New logo based on your concept with the elephant facing forward, 3 trumpets like octopus and ears introduced into the shape of shield itself. (ears are a bit abstract, being the shape of shield itself, but this concept appealed to me because of the simplicity, meaning and match with the shape of the elephant face.) :)
