Very interesting group of designs, dash. Good work! Entry 5 is similar to a concept we played with, perhaps tyry to integrate 3 (3 from the original logo) and see what happens. The three don't have to be equal in proportion, but do remember, as this is an airline logo, it will always be displayed on the reverse side on the opposite side of the aircraft, in other words like a flag displays, so the design has to be well balanced. The actual brief is for the logo to be in gold but i'm happy to work in silver and gold and see where that takes us.

Entry #21 - This is very different. We had not considered the integration of a bird of prey into the design and i find it very refreshing. Although i was very focussed on the typestyle i am using, i like your choice and feel it embodies the attributes the brand is trying to highlight. The use of the slogan works very well, but may not be used on the actual aircraft themselves adjacent to the titling. Again, the logo needs to be gold and the titling will be used against a silver background on the actual aircraft so it most likely will work better in black or red. The horizontal lines background is superb but may not work well with the design on the tail and rear of the fuselage. In order to use this concept the configuration of the design of the rear end may have to be changed which is possible. I need to think about it.

Entry #15 - Logo as used in #21. I would like to see a version in gold, on a plain as well as ribbed red background and areversed out of a silver metallic background where the logo will be applied to the front of the fuselage. I'm thinking a third element to be introduced to the lower portion which will represent the 3 elements of the wing as in the traditional design but retain your new concept.

#20 - Beautiful design but the airline already has some RETRO style logo jets and won't consider this for a fleet wide livery.

Hello therman, thank you for the great feedback. Will the post up the color options you suggested and I'll also try to explore some new ideas, see where it leads.

Dasx, there's an element of brutality to this, cutting edge, razor sharp. I'm liking that BIG TIME! Let's get the third element of the original wing design in here and into gold against a warm red as well as a satin silver background and I think this one's gonna be a brute!!

Hi therman, I have to run out for a few hours. Will be back later this evening. I have been working on some new concepts and I want to say a bit more than just "elegant wing". This can be any airline really but it will not be as memorable.

more to come.

Hi dasx, take your time, no problem. #67 - I'm afraid I'm not for this one, tending more towards the chicken industry. How about something like #15, in gold, sculpt the cutaway (hawk's head) a little bit up, then narrow the lower portion of let's call it the tri-angle and bring in a third element on top of it. I wish i could illustrate what i mean but seems i can't. This will give us the traditional 3 elements of the wing as in the original logo but have the bird of prey coming out of it, which i think is the killer move in this design.

Sorry therman. I will probably be opting out of this. Stepped away and came back to evolutions of my proposed design. Funny, now it will look like i am following them :)

I may have to make a new idea with a different edge to it but don't rank them, just give feedback please.

You shouldn't opt out. It's obvious they would all copy you, you were the first to bring the concept and i rated them all highly, in part because the one guy, whose design I don't like did however manage to get 3 wing elements in. I never referenced anyones work or promoted any idea other than that which the artist themselves brought forth. Anyway, I really like your titling as well it's certain you will be chosen for the next step so don't worry, ease off, watch and wait and we'll pick it up in the next step. This is my first time in LT and yes, it's great but it also has it's weak points, the most obvious being stand back, see what the guy favours and copy it. it also now risks becoming a bit messy, there's just so much being thrown at me now but that's the nature of the tournament. Regards, Richard.

Sorry i missed your comment about new idea / don't rank. Early morning here, still a bit asleep. Work on your ideas, look at what some of the others have done, they did evolve your concept but some good stuff. Don't be concerned about mtg rankings, I'm just trying to prompt people in a certain direction and by ranking you highly obviously they all hone in on that. Hey, this is art, you get a lot of that, a lot! Work on the designs, you don't even have to submitt yet and stand by for stage 2.

I am aware of everything that has happened. Let's put it to rest, it's of no consequence. I stand by what i said earlier. Now start to think about the logo and how we display or illustrate it on the tail. I've boxed myself into a corner by insisting on the tri-angle and whilst it works well on the fuselage, running into difficulty on the tail. Also within the context of this competition there is no way we can cover the entire body of work needed. I underestimated it. Take a look at Qatar Airways and what they've done with their logo (on the engine cowlings) and how they've used a copped version on the tail. Brilliant. Anyway, that's all for now, let's see where we go. Regards, Richard.

I understand the direction completely. Qatar Airways is quite amazing.

The original wing design was inspired by the African Fish Eagle, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:African_Fish_Eagle.jpg , hence, your concept immediately touched a nerve, a eureka moment. Have a think about this beautiful bird (very close relative of the Bald Eagle) and see where that leads. We have to be careful NOT to end up like EGYPTAIR or GULFAIR, check them out at airliners.net . You know what i'm saying.

I have been also working on an eagle eye which is the entire tail. A menacing predator eye in the sky :)

Might be interesting also on the side and turn the whole plane into the bird itself. Man this is not easy.

Definitely trying to stay away from EGYPTAIR and GULFAIR reminders.

you don't want a menacing predator in the sky, gotta leave that for the F22 Raptor Squadrons. You want a graceful, elegant, yet powerful eagle spreading it's wings in the morning sky. Also, not the whole plane (logo jet) of which there are many, check out the Alaska Airlines salmon! Deff don't want that. You have the elements already, I've been working with your concept and there's a lot of potential. For the moment, think about the tail, the vertical stabiliser. Think about how your concept will appear on the tail, if it needs any changing as opposed to the formal triangle, suitable for the fuselage. The important elements in the concept are the flaring wings and the inverted subtle eagle. Those are already there. Think about how to illustrate that to maximum effect on the tail in a graceful and elegant fashion. Don't wanna chase away them tourists!!!
