Thanks so much for participating! My feedback below:
#1: At first glance, I wondered why you had used two S's in order to represent our organization. Upon further examination, I recognized that the hand in the middle is meant to segment the lettering to create an A and an S. Very clever! My concern is twofold. First, I would be concerned that our constituents would make the same mistake that I did and get lost in understanding the mark. Second, this has a lot of filled space making this fairly bulky. Is there a way to make it a little more elegant or streamlined? The text is spot-on!
That little break you put in there certainly did the trick (#9 and #8). I also like the color differentiation. Any luck with reducing the surface area of the logo as well?
I solicited some feedback internally and a few comments came up:
#9: A cool & subtle merging of the A&S. We also like how it also looks like a flower budding. The hand doesn't look normal though and I'm not sure what it needs. It looks more deformed or frail rather than an arm embracing or a hand reaching out to serve. Is there a way to make it a stronger element to tie in the idea of service?
#17 - This one really struck a chord with the team members here. Really powerful imagery that connects with our message. The downfall of the image, however, is still it's size. Is there anyway to compress that strength into a tighter/smaller image?
#17 - This one keeps coming up in conversations. Can we try to alter the tools that you have chosen?
A few ideas: 1) Hammer (I think there is one) 2) spade may work which you have 3.) maybe a tree sapling? or rake for the natural component? 3) Ladle or serving spoon for soup kitchen 4) Canoe paddle? cimbing carabiner or rope? hiking stick? Something for the adventure part.
