Can we see a difference color scheme on this? Perhaps sample red and black? Or red and beige?

Hey there - I would be happy to submit some variations. As your contest is now in the "top 5" phase, I can only submit new work if I'm ranked in the top 5. If you decide to do this, please let me know here.

Thank you,
Ignacio

Hi Icarrhou,

If possible could you share your thoughts behind this design and why you created it?

Thanks!

Hey there - thank you for your great comments.

This is what went into creating your design.:

I wanted to focus on the aspects of preaching which I believe most important - the theology and the oratorical desire. I wanted to represent these two elements with one icon that would work on different levels while not being overwrought. The first image that came to me was the dove representing theology. The second image that came to me was the flame representing the desire to preach. The challenge was combining both images in such a way that made sense. I designed a single, simple form that suggested a flame then used the form in various sizes to form the representation of the dove. To further bring the point home, I chose one strategically placed form and treated it with a contrasting color. Entry #29 really brings the point home as the one form that is different is treated with the color red, strongly suggesting the flame. Overall, I believe the icon works because it speaks preaching in a sophisticated yet straight-forward manner.

Please let me know if you have any questions about all this. Thank you very much.

I like this logo quite a bit. I wonder if you could add one thing just so we could see what it would look like. My hunch is that my suggestion to follow might make the logo too clunky, but, here goes: There is a tension that exists in preaching between the book and the spirit. I don't like the logos that only present a book (presumably the Bible/scripture) because that makes preaching seem too text focused, bordering on bibliolatry. But is there a way to signal the importance of scripture in tension with the spirit? What do you think?

An idea: if you look at logo 10 you see an image of a text fluttering up. Could you draw an image of a text on the lower left, as abstract as the dove, with the pages fluttering up and loosening from the text and becoming the dove and flame that fly up and to the right?

This is Andre: Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking. Very nice. I'm going to try to get the others to look at them. I especially like 35.

The feedback has been strong. I think we are close to a final version. I imagine that we would use this logo in two ways: one with both image and words, and I think it would be cool to have shirts, etc., with just the image. It is evocative.

One consistent suggestion from people has been in regard to the size of the image vs. the size of the words. Is there a way to make the image more prominent? Would the words need to be rearranged to accomplish this?

Hello -

I think the icon is strong and works well alone. So splitting up the icon from the text will work nicely - and dibs on a couple of shirts... lol.

So far as making the image more prominent, I tried to show you this on #36, though with a different layout. I can upload a couple of variations on scale shortly, but I'll caution you on going too small on the text. You'll want to avoid having the text appear as an afterthought.

Variations up shortly.

Hello - Just uploaded some variations of scale:

If the icon in #35 is "small" - then #38 is medium and #39 is large. My recommendation is #38 as the icon appears strong with the text size supporting it nicely.

Any other changes, please let me know.

Thank you!
