Please look at the slogans in the other logos. ALL of the slogans came from me, so there is not copying issue. Also see my site at www.401krecon.com. Or should I say www.401kreKon.com? Just got that site at godaddy. Need to kick around different ways to use reKon. I love it.
I'm glad it struck a chord. I looked at your contest and was immediately struck by the need for simplification. As far as the logo itself, again, simplicity in all things when possible. A strong brand name is the lion's share of memorability and typically needs little 'dressing up'. As to trademark issues, be aware that the 'word' itself is in all likelihood fair game - trademark is to be differentiated from copyright, the latter having to do with linguistic entities, the former having to do primarily with graphical representation (particularly in a given market-space). In any event, we can work up a mark based on just the word 'reKon' and you can use that as the graphical representation of a traded-marked name '401k reKon'. One other thing, trademark is also to be distinguished from registered trademark. A registered trademark has federal recognition whereas a simple trademark is usually just state-recognized. Further, the presence of a TM does not mean that a mark is in fact registered at all - that needs to be researched to be proved. Keep me posted as to your attorney's take on the matter:)
cool. Please make 95 more of a crosshair look. Just try 401(k) Reconnaissance under reKon. Is there a way to make the re sound like ree (long e sound)? rekon technologies already has the long e symbol. otherwise, the first look may sound like wreckon, instead of re-Kon.
What if the re was in italics? How about re, then a dot, then Kon. Instead of re-Kon, replace the dash with a dot. With italics, re should be naturally pronounced 'ree'. Don't you think?
I don't have a problem with the phonetics of the word as it is. It's has the weight of the more common 'recon' abreviation, used in tactical circles, behind it as a ready cue to pronunciation. And also, even the softer sound would bring to mind the idea of reckoning as in 'plotting a course' or 'making a judgement'.
286 looks really good. Should re be a little separate from Kon? The red square lines up with the bottom of the E. Almost makes it look like part of the E. Maybe you can split re from Kon, and separate with the little square. My wife didn't know it was supposed to separate.
Won't need the long address with rekon, or even recon. Let's scrap reconnaissance.com for now. Still need 401k in there. re-Kon is a stand alone logo, but I really think we need 401k before or above it so people read 401k re-Kon. I'll have another post in a minute. My wife just offered some different ideas.
For web. The versions without effects are great for print assets as they are economical and easy to reproduce. The entire design could be used in a single solid colour for fax/photocopy.
Here is my wife's idea for newer logos from you. Check out the colors on #2, 278 by redcard. Try blue for re, then black for Kon. Maybe with or without green in the o so it looks more like a scope. How about small re, large KON?
I like your logo, i think it makes for a memorable brand and it's new and fresh and consistent, in some ways and the way i have my cross hairs, and the the 4p's surrounding the cross hairs, would go great in place of where you have the "o" in rekon, add in the slogan, The Advisors Resource, on target with your clients. would make for a dandy logo.
