Not sure I will have time to do proper research on this one now. Carol 7 years ago CHIS commented on #82 Withdrawn The leaves on the left look a bit like island tree mallow leaves. I would tweak them a little bit. I believe I included a photo of the island tree mallow in my posting. You can also search for pictures of it on the internet. The orange flowers on the left look like California poppies which are on the islands but the island version are mostly yellow with orange splotches at the base of each petal. The purple flowers look somewhat like island tree mallow flowers but the color should be more red. Again take a look at the photo I included. The flowers on the right are too generic. I would replace the red one with a island monkey flower and the last one with a Dudleya plant drawing. 7 years ago BusinessBuilders commented on #19 Withdrawn Did you want to coastline or not? 7 years ago BusinessBuilders commented on #82 Withdrawn I am not a botanical illustrator so did abstract versions of some of the plants I saw on a reference site. Feedback and specific references helpful. Carol 7 years ago BusinessBuilders commented on #3 Withdrawn Will work on that. 7 years ago CHIS commented on #3 Withdrawn More have weighed in and they don't like the bird. I suggest replacing it with channel islands specific plants. 7 years ago CHIS commented on #19 Withdrawn Some people don't like the bird. They want all the emphasis on plants. Perhaps replace the bird with the flower of another island plant - island bush poppy for example. 7 years ago CHIS commented on #3 Withdrawn Ok. Thanks. 7 years ago BusinessBuilders commented on #63 Withdrawn Are there particular plants you want to focus on? 7 years ago CHIS commented on #63 Withdrawn I've heard back from one person in the group and as we are a botanical group, he would like the bird replaced with a plant or not be so prominent. 7 years ago BusinessBuilders commented on #3 Withdrawn OK I suggest you also speak with the printer who is doing your shirts for technical details (I wish I could do the shirts for you but I am in Northern CA) Carol 7 years ago CHIS commented on #1 Withdrawn Got it. This design made the top 12 and I've sent them out for review by the group. We will just have to wait now and see what they say. 7 years ago CHIS commented on #3 Withdrawn I like the entry but others in the group have to weigh in now. Let's see what they say before we make any changes. 7 years ago BusinessBuilders commented on #19 Withdrawn a little more realistic, added the poppy and a border - but check with your screen printer - you may want to adjust to make it easier to print. Advise. Carol 7 years ago BusinessBuilders commented on #3 Withdrawn same note on other entry. But for realism you will need gradients and the screen print on a shirt doesn't do that as well. Carol 7 years ago BusinessBuilders commented on #1 Withdrawn I had done another project similar - and did find flora and fauna of the area. Thus the other entries with the birds and flowers. I will work a bit more on it soon. 7 years ago CHIS commented on #1 Withdrawn I like the inclusion of the all the islands, including those in Mexico. I don't know that I like the color of the wording and I would change the drawing of the flora and fauna more representative of those plants and animals found on the islands. 7 years ago CHIS commented on #3 Withdrawn I think a more realistic depiction of the flower and the leaves which I think are supposed to represent the island tree mallow (Malva assurgentiflora ssp assurgentiflora). I'll see if I can add a photo of the plant to the gallery but if not you can probably find a photo of it on line. 7 years ago BusinessBuilders commented on #3 Withdrawn thanks - let me know how I can make this even better for you. I am curious where to put the emphasis on the wording also. Carol 7 years ago
