What We Do
Black Mountain Weekend is a men's retreat that meets each year at Black mountain North Carolina. We would like the logo to be somewhat generic in the sense that it could be used for any number of things, but not generic in the "boring" sense. Something that will look nice on hats and t-shirts.

Please post some variety. Everything looks the same here. I know it is early (only several hours in) but please let's get some diversity here. I will update the contest brief to add some color if that is limiting the options.

I tend to like the more stylized logos. Especially because it MUST look great on a hat and t-shirt. I will gravitate towards things that fit that mold.

Let's try some color for interest

as a point of interest, the black mountains are part of the blue ridge mountains, they are not the rockies and don't have snow on top except in the peak of winter

as a general comment, "black" and "mountain" don't need to be differentiated in the text. It is one name and there is really no reason to separate them.

no need to reverse logos out white on black. I can visualize that.

a litte more dimension, depth and sophistication would be a nice touch

I like the addition of color and interest (and a new direction) in #43
And I like the unique quality of #42

I think variety is the key right now. I don't want to get locked into a single direction or idea too early on. Keep the great ideas and creative juices flowing.

I would really like to see a few more try to incorporate the state of NC outline as #43 and #47 have done.

Thanks to all designers for a number of great entries.
For the top designs, I would like to ask all designers to do several things:
1. Please direct coloration towards that of #55 and #43
2. Please add the outline of the state of North Carolina somewhere in design if it makes sense and even if it is very small.
3. I believe the winning design will be "patch-like" in nature, so please direct the designs in this direction - what that means is up to you. Please don't copy the others, but come up with something uniquely your own.
4. As mentioned in previous comments, the Black Mountains are more like hills than mountains, and they are not the rockies - no snow caps or sharp peaks - so please let designs reflect that.
5. Please let me see what each design would look like in black and white or gray scale as well

Thanks

for the top designs, please also be more critical of the font choices at this time as well.
