hello, here are my proposals. sorry no color yet, i just want you to know if you're interested with them, so i can work them out further more. i have visited your website to do some research,... and this is what i came up. these are iconic logo, so it's not integrated with the logo text, yet. i will do some more to integrate them with the logo text. ok i hope you like it. let me know what you think.
Hey, this is pretty good, I like your style and font usage.
Really enjoyed entry #4 which looks the cleanest.Later with color number 1 definitely should need to stand out, I encourage you to continue with experimenting on #4 definitely.
#3 is not bad too though. but it isn't as aligned and harmonic as #4, good work.
hi, so here the updates. #25 the text treatment to match the icon, on white background #26 this one how it looks on black bakcground #27 the icon and the text together, they can be separated and still be recognized as unique logo from 1stwebdesigner.
I really like your style! Only would be interested to try different colors & or try some more variations with color..to give it little subtle gradient, little more iconic feel. Check his works here - http://www.premiumpixels.com/ , more his freebie icons, that style.
awesome logo on premium pixel, it's interactive too :) i guess they use some kind of javascript on it right to change the color gradually. yea i did some webdesign and coding a while ago too, some mediawiki skin too so i know a bit about javascript, but i'm not following any of them anymore. it's a lot of fun, but too much time to do for some stuff (...at that time there aren't alot of good javascript framework). now HTML is version 5, huh! i haven't finished to know the version 4, and CSS? i used to know the CSS2 but now?... lol so fast! sorry for the 'story' it's just brings back lots of good memories, i have to write it ;)
yea, have checked the freebie icons and the smashing logo too. i think i know what you mean. will definitely use those gradient, and maybe try something a bit like icon. will keep you posted.
update time. i use subtle gradients in all the updates, and some different color. ok entry #39 is the same logo and layout, but using subtle gradient so the icon can pop and a bit of 'faux' 3D #40 is to make the logo in the horizontal layout. also i made the icon inside a circle and make it look like a ball. #41 is the dark background version. #43 is an attempt to make the icon/symbol multicolored. i use 2 color, orange and gray for this. #44 is an example of the subtle gradient applied to the logo text, if you use the logo text only without the icon. #45 is another interesting color i found. the glass ball has reflection instead of shadow. #46 is the vertical version.
Hey Wolv, really good job here! Yes.. I have an idea..about at least little interactive logo.. (as much as Visit Homepage - http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/ like here on logo)
PremiumPixels logo is really amazing. And nice hacking into more innovative sphere for web logos..oh I should create an article idea about this :)
Yes, versions are changing super fast, I cannot make it myself to learn and keep up ;D But it's ok, I am not just designer anymore.

About designs. I really think you have a winning logo. It's becoming really hard to decide about colors. Know I am looking which design should work with current design also.. for now it looks like #43 is the best one, for #44 - that center gradient line really resembles of late web 2.0 style (of course circle resembles it too - but in good way).
Still not yet sure if #39 version doesn't look better comparing to those with circles in 1WD. I feel like #39 is cleaner because of less elements. What's your take?
Btw..I also accept guest posts if you're interested maybe writing something, share your experiences..and get great feedback? Also paying 50$ per article. (up to 75$ for permanent writers)
you can declare the winner anytime ;) now about the logo, i would love to make a website mockup screenshot but i really can't display it because it will violate the rule. well if you .... say select my design as the winning logo, i can always work it further to adapt it to your current site design, whether changing its color, or maybe add some shadows/etc. you can have all the variation and then decide which are the best to go along with the website.
if it's me, then i will go for design #43, well maybe because your overall website design is minimalistic, you will need at least one thing that really make the focus. so i will choose the variation that really pops so it can be the center of attention. but every variation have their own place, maybe someday your website design changed and #39 and #44 will fits perfectly.
--- thanks, i'm a crappy writer lol,.. but i probably i will.. don't know yet. maybe i'll write the experience on creating 1stwebdesigner logo, the design process, that would be fun ;) thanks ;)
-- i can try that, but IMO it's a bit too cheesy to add the <>... ;)
ookay so here are the updates: #49 adds the <> but i think it makes the logo too busy... vertical layout #50 same as #49 horizontal layout,.. #51 using just a simple line separator,.. i think this is better ;)
note on #49, #50 and #51, the logo text doesn't use heavy gradient (shines, shadows, etc), because i think it's too small to use them and too much i guess. so if it's present with the icon, the text should have very subtle gradient (whether it's shines, shadows, etc), but if it's the text alone, then we i can go crazy with the gradients ;) just my opinion ;)
