Somewhere in the Middle
**Edit: It is our intention to expand the group and have "Somewhere in the North" and "Somewhere in the South" when we find additional locations. Similar outdoor and plant rich venues.** The Vision - Your neighbourhood garden bar Let’s meet…somewhere in the middle. Somewhere in the Middle will be an engaging, thematic and “tourist worthy” food and beverage dining experience for Western Australia. Nearby Subiaco and Claremont are full of indoor hospitality venues with some outdoor seating; however, Shenton Park is the perfect space to create a café, kitchen and bar venue with a cool courtyard, garden setting. We encourage customers to linger, longer. To relax and kick back with friends at the end of the day or make it the start of a great night out. With a focus on locals in the surrounding areas, those who live or work in the area, Shenton Park has the vibe of a cool suburb without the busyness of a hot spot. Trading seven days, Somewhere in the Middle offers a grab and go café menu or take your time and dine in our garden. The kitchen and bar will take you from afternoon to night and showcase WA produce and craft beverages. With a subtle nod to its Diggers & Trucker salvage yard past, we plan to upcycle what we can with unique doors and windows as our backdrop and sea container structures to lighten our footprint. We’ll embrace our trainline location and theme some bookable dining areas with a little help from our Fire Department, School and Hospital neighbours. With new residential developments growing nearby, we offer a place to grab a coffee and a bite on the way to work, to drop in on your way home, or kick back and chill with friends in our backyard. Key aspects of the proposed design include: • two-level thematic environment inspired by music and garden surrounds. • Grab and go café or take a seat in our lush courtyard. • Bookable dining areas with themed cubbyhouses to come. • Open-plan courtyard with large, grassed areas for games and communal dining. • Café, kitchen, and bar on the lower level with rooftop open-air alfresco level with seating and noise abatement measures to allow guests to enjoy the fresh air and the streetscape vista. • Integration of music and dining within plants, trees and water features • Commercial kitchens installed according to Building Code of Australia specifications. • High-specification toilet facilities including unisex accessible bathroom. • Chilled music for ambiance and remove disturbance to nearby residents. • Lights and surveillance on the street, making the area safer and more accessible to patrons but also local workers and residents. These key design features and menu offerings will ensure that Somewhere in the Middle will intentionally, through its core aesthetic and quality of products and services, attract a mature clientele.
