Melanin Queens Foundation for Change
We are a nonprofit that strives to redefine the narrative of minority women in America by educating, inspiring, and empowering future generations of Melanin Queens. A Melanin Queen is a confident, resilient, innovative woman who knocks down barriers, fearlessly pursues her dreams, uplifts those around her as she rises, and writes her own story in history. Our target audience is women, ages 13-25. That being said, Melanin Queen’s purpose is: To provide safe and creative spaces that foster hope and the development of high self-esteem, positive self-image, ambition, gratitude, and other attributes of good mental health. To establish mentorship and womanhood where expression and transparency are welcomed without judgment. To provide opportunities for young girls to learn from the examples of influential minority women living today and throughout history. To advocate a presence for minority women where they have been historically excluded (or silenced). To advocate for political, social, and economic agendas that will protect the rights of young, minority women and pave their way for a better future. To facilitate the growth of exemplary leaders who are the pillars of the community.
