We are a private startup oil and gas company, the name 406 Energy comes from Ted Williams batting over 0.400, and being the last player to do so. Before the last game of the season the coach asked him if he wanted to sit out to preserve his batting record and his historic season and he replied I want to be remembered for having more than my toenails on the line. He played, batted 6 for 8 in a double header and finished the season 0.406. We like the idea of wanting to have skin in the game, take the risk to start something and we named our company after this decision, although we are not big Red Sox or baseball fans in general so the logo doesn't have to be baseball forward.
