We are starting up this charity to raise funds for research into genetic hearing and eye disorders. Two of our kids have been diagnosed with Ushers syndrome type 1 - which means that they were born deaf and will gradually lose their eyesight. There is not a lot of research in this area so we aim to raise awareness of vision and hearing disorders in general and raise funds to be specifically directed to research in this field. The target audience will be anyone that can empathise with a person losing their hearing and sight. Anyone that can empathise with a parent who cannot 'fix' a serious health condition in their child. We are initially targeting schools to challenge each other but are hoping to extend the fundraising challenge to companies too. (the GEnE comes from Genetic Ear n Eye)
