Jay Uiberall Legacy Fund
The Jay Uibrall Legacy Fund (JULF)honors the legacy of Memphis restaurateur and visionary, Jay Uiberall. Enabling Jay’s life-long passion for restaurant management to live on by providing support for aspiring restaurateurs as they strive to meet their educational goals, JULF provides an annual scholarship to the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management at the University of Memphis.
Aside from the annual scholarship, the JULF contributes contributions to Serving Memphis - was created to serve the people who serve you, the employees in the restaurant and hospitality industry. In the first year of its existence, Serving Memphis has worked with the Church Health Center to create awareness of healthy living, the RISE Foundation to facilitate financial literacy classes, and has paid for approximately 500 flu shots provided by The Shot Nurse to employees in the restaurant industry. This year’s goal is over 800 flu shots.
Another great contribution is to fund the Jay Uiberall Culinary Institute at Knowledge Quest, a children's education organization located in the heart of South Memphis. KQ's newest program is teaching students how to grow food in ways that build community and increase neighborhood healthy eating.
