I am running my first contest, which ends in a day or so and I am not quite sure how this ends. What are my options? Is the logo that is ranked first automatically the winner? Do I have to pick a winner? CAn we make final tweaks to the logo? Can I extend it a little and how? Thanks.

You can select your winner anytime you chose, even if contest ends, you go into a judging phase, where you can re-rank and change designs, based on those you want to see some tweaks at. You have to swap a certain designer into the #1 spot during judging phase, so that designer can submit his tweaks you asked for and so on.
Then when you are sure about the winning design you want to select, do the final re-ranking and keep the #1 ranked the design you decided to chose as a winner and mark the contest complete.
If you felt like extending the contest now for the number of days you want ( maximum 6 days i think ) , you can do so at a button that shows at the top of your contest page that says extend contest.
