For #218 I did a more realistic illustration of the leopard. I'm not sure if you want more realism or more a stylized sketch. Also just to offer something a bit more dramatic, I did the lettering to represent an African sunset. Please let me know which direction I would need to go in realistic or stylized and should I only try the gold tones. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. :)
I made a few more stylized, but I corrected the coloring of the leopard (I felt that the previous version was either too cheetah looking because of the white muzzle or a bit werewolf-ish. :D I much more prefer my last versions.
Would you rather I try the sunset look in the letters? (I could add a blurred sun) or do you want more straight forward coloring? Please let me know.
Cheers
Marcelo
BTW- I checked out your Flickr page... BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS!
Marcelo, Thanks for checking out my photos.....more straight forward.....do like the silouette of the animals in the texts...like the gold in the text more than the orange...Thanks Ben
I have a client meeting shortly and will be back on this in about an hour.
Do you want the leopard changed at all? I don't know if I should cut out some of the detail, but I don't want to go too cartoony, since it takes away from the stoic look of the leopard and the feel of the logo. Just my opinion... I may be wrong. :)
Really like the leopard maybe a little less real but not much it is very good and can I also see it against a white background...thanks for all the hard work
Opps, good eye on #288 (I knocked one of my colors out of registration)
I'm reworking the eyes on the other ones. Do you like the eyes completely redone like #187? I find that when the eyes don't have the lighting and highlights of the photo then they appear a bit like a "special effects". If that OK then I can definitely redo them. Ether way, I am fixing the socket and evening out the right eye (leopard's left) since the highlight appears smaller, I'll match it more the left side eye (leopard's right).
I'm uploading quite few variations. Some were done yesterday and may not have the eyes as you requested. Because I made slight modifications (eye. text effects, proportions and adjustments on the illustration) feel free to nix the entries you don't want for sure. Also, let m know if you prefer the leopard of one with the text of another (mix-n-match). If the eyes start looking to much like a werewolf movie effect, just let me know and I'll correct it. (I know my thinking is a bit biased right now since my kids just watched the movie "Cursed" this weekend http://tinyurl.com/mzrznpf and if I start staring too much at the leopard's I start seeing the werewolf from that movie. LOL).
As always, your thoughts and feedback are appreciated.
Let me know if you want them darker, lighter, brighter, more pale, more orange, yellow... just name it. Also, if you want me to try any other text treatments.
Had a crazy day today (I run my own design and print company so crazy goes with the territory - lol). I just realized that you left me some feedback. I'll get on this. :)
Thanks for waiting Ben. Yes busy today, but in a good way.
BTW - Where were your photos taken? I missed an opportunity to go to Gaborone and Johannesburg about 12 years ago. It was for another business, and with 3 weeks there I wanted to get out to the Okavango Delta and Kalahari. But it was cutting it too close to our daughter's birth date. Instead my brother went in my place - still envious about that. :D
Marcelo, In Oct was on Safari for 3 weeks in south Africa was amazing...the wildlife is unbelieveable but if I go back it will be Okavango Delta which is the most rich area for wildlife...and again thanks for all your Hard work...Ben
No problem, I just wish I could use some of your photos for other work. Now I have a nice looking leopard, but can't use it anymore. :D At least with other contest we can recycle our work for another contest, but when its a client supplied photo we only own the rights to our design concept, not the photo. Anyway, it was fun to practice and hone in our skills. You're in good hands with Ryo, he's great a person (and not too shabby as a designer either - lol).
Now that the contest is over please feel free to contact me directly if I can be of any assistance. my company info is on my profile. Best of luck.
