Here are some of my proposals. Instead of creating a separate icon / typography combination, I've created an all encompassing logo / unit. One that can be used for additional elements just as branding stamps, watermarks, shirt badges/embroidery etc.
I've started in its simplest form, monotone ... I've always been a believer if it works in this, it will work in colour. And also shows that it can work for things like newspaper print etc.
The logos are 100% vector so will scale well to any size, and works well in full colour, B&W and on coloured backgrounds if needed,
It would be my pleasure to work up any variations so please do say. I look forward to your comments or thoughts.
Thank you for the designs and the details. These are great. I like 156 and 160. For 160, you can remove the small sentence under Whitestone. Also, the location is Cedar Park, Texas, so let's see how that looks at the bottom. Are you able to change the lettering to reflect more of a hand chiseled stone type of look? And lastly, for the star, can you make it more like the Texas star (example http://www.poolxpressions.com/product/texas-star-with-rope/)?
You're on the right track, although I picture more of a rough look for the letters. As if they were letters carved out of rock. If you can get them to that point I would like to see #156 in that style and remove the "ESTD 2014" at the top and also the "Texas" at the bottom and instead have the star enlarged and positioned so "Whitestone Brewery" overlaps it (so the star is in the background of the words). And have the detail of the Star just like the Texas star.
