Very much liking the gold and the color gradient within the gold. Between "Anne" and "Holland" it gets too light to be readable. Not sure about the ribbon - or at least, the ribbon without anything on it; we need some actual wording signifying that this is the premium (membership) content on the site.

PLEASE, read the updated brief and the comment above. We need to stay true to the existing logo, just adding some actual WORDING saying "Premium" or "Premium Edition". This ribbon can overlay some of the logo.

Definitely heading in a better direction. We need to watch the vertical space, this logo is uber-tall already. Maybe skew the direction of the ribbon in #4, i.e. put an angle on it to bring down to the top border and inside the right border?

#18 is getting farther from the goal. We don't want to change the look-and-feel of the question mark at all, and this is not a quirky or artsy site - it's a serious business journalism site.

See the Upload section of the brief for a VERY ROUGH idea of what we're looking for

Cool!!! Good progress! Could we see something like this with a banner instead of an Awards-type ribbon? if there is a gold ribbon across the logo, either the top line or the question mark may need to change revert to their original question. I'm especially liking the gold Question Mark though, just for what it's worth.
