I realize that the "west" in "Westside" is most likely more about being located in Fort Worth than "The West". But I thought I'd try something different, something that would communicate a "mood", an emblem that would be disruptive. And after seeing the longhorn cattle and Texas flag in your promo reel, I thought why not play up "The West"? After all, we get most of our ideas about the Old West from western movies.
#74 Hi Roman. When I saw your design, I absolutely loved it! I am proud to be from Fort Worth and the western theme is definitely appropriate. However, I'm torn about whether to emphasize that aspect of our identity or move away from the "Cowtown" part of our heritage and present our company in a more sophisticated manner. I need to ponder this for a while. For now, I'll rank this design in my Top Ten.
#74 I'm wondering if you could create a b/w stylized image of just the spurs that make the "W" for me to see? This would be used for our embroidered clothing.
Thank you for your comments. When I designed this logo, I started with just the spurs in black and white so I see where you're going thinking in terms of embroidery. Let me simplify the logo – isolating the spurs – so you can see it in black and white. I won't have a chance to work on it until about two hours before the end of the contest, so look for the revisions a little later today.
Regarding the "Cowtown" heritage, I think Sundance Film Festival does a nice job marrying contemporary sophistication to its rustic roots. I could try a couple typeface options that might accomplish something similar.
#170 Roman, I wanted to thank you again for your submissions. You created an outstanding design. After much discussion with my partner, we came to a decision that we didn't want to emphasize the western/Cowtown theme in our logo.
