It may be a little too modern...I like the direction you are going though. Definitely remove the words:
School District

Just use:
West Platte
Blue Jays

Also, check out the picture I posted with a head shot of a blue jay in the corner of a banner. That's what most people like, but we really want to update him.

I'm thinking it's still too modern....check out my last update and see what you can do to modify and update that blue jay. We own the logo, but that's all we have. It's really not enough to do much with and I hate the beak part....
