Would you try some other fonts & colors? the "u" should be fantastic, and please don't be afraid to use more design elements, like a texture or gradient on the box the U is in. Maybe play with inner drop shadow on the u... and try a box with sharp corners and maybe in a circle.
We would like the "u" in a box, or circle, like a social icon... like pinterest, facebook, twitter, etc.
