Thanks! 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #75 Withdrawn This figure (and several others you've created) is definitely better! Nice work! However now my female friend said she feels a bit left out b/c it's quite obviously a man. Also would like a different font for the "swing dance," something with more of a vintage feel. 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #66 Withdrawn Good font changes, nice use of yellow to highlight teal. The words swing dance need to be bigger somehow, the eye needs to see them right away rather than an afterthought. The figure is still clunky and modern. It needs to be sleek, energetic, and vintage. We will be uploading some files soon with images of dancers that may give ideas. 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #35 Withdrawn Also in general more of a vintage feel with the font choices. Our dances are from the 20s, 30s and 40s, we want to convey that vintage feel in our logo. 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #35 Withdrawn Also swing dance is needs to draw the eye more, it's a key part of what we do. 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #35 Withdrawn Or maybe more like a "K" and less like a person? 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #35 Withdrawn For the figure: •More vintage •Less masculine •More of a sense of movement (It's a bit of a blob right now) 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #25 Withdrawn This figure looks more like a swing dancer, thanks! I liked on the other logo how the K dipped below the line and the words "swing dance" weren't centered but justified left. I do see how his foot lines up with the serif of the lettering this way, though. Hmmm. 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #22 Withdrawn Interesting ideas! Going to think about the other ones overnight before I comment. What would this one look like if the dancing people were split up from the couple and moved to either end of the word "Swing Dance"? Maybe attaching to a letter or to the line, or not, depending how it looked. Also green is one of our accent colors that we won't use very much. The teal, yellow, and navy are our three main colors. (I just uploaded a jpg with the RGB, CMYK and HEX codes to the contest files if that is helpful.) 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #20 Withdrawn (That was a lot, I get excited about dancing. :) Anyway, hopefully that gives you an idea of the postures of swing.) 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #20 Withdrawn http://www.step-by-step-dance.com/swingdance.html 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #20 Withdrawn https://www.northeastcatholic.edu/thanksgiving-swing-dance/ 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #20 Withdrawn Scroll down for the picture: https://www.gottaswing.com/calendarold/2017/4/28/city-swing-dj-dance-at-dancesport-dupont-circle-at-church-of-the-pilgrims-washington-dc 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #20 Withdrawn Or this could be an option: https://www.timeout.com/newyork/things-to-do/best-swing-dancing-classes-in-nyc 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #20 Withdrawn https://www.dso.org/ShowEventsView.aspx?id=6033&prod=6032 Bent forward at the waist, leg outstretched in a kick, etc. 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #20 Withdrawn https://www.whatcomtalk.com/event/swing-dance/ (We don't want them this gendered, but this gives an idea of the movements.) 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #20 Withdrawn Rather than having the figure stretching up and facing forward, try having it bent and groovy. I'm going to send some websites with some links to pictures of swing dancers to give an idea of the poses. (Stretching up with long lines is ballet, down, a bit bent and groovy is swing.) 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #17 Withdrawn Also would like to see more of a use of our colors. 5 years ago TopekaSwingDance commented on #17 Withdrawn Fun idea to have the K be a dancing figure! Could the dancing figure have more of a vintage feel rather than it's current contemporary look? 5 years ago
