Hi Michael, thanks for the design entry.
i like the clean feel of the text, could we try that text with white spotlights either one or two shining down from the top sides. thanks

Note to Logotournament: regarding about placement of this logo – this is the clients request. The logo would be the full frame including lighting.

Thanks Michael,
could we try #35 without the briefcase

Sure thing.... hope you like this. I'm liking the classic simplicity.

Something of a twist to tie in a (sort of) illusion to the design – the m and d joined.

great thanks.
yes, the joined letter is almost there - but not quite. worth exploring i'm sure you'll agree.

Client
yea there is something there certainly worth exploring.
i just realised that i may run in to trouble with #38 when its not coming from a box, how could i make this logo work without the box border?
maybe a bright orb or a spotlight canister or lighting rig??? something that makes it a stand alone logo.
also could we try #38 with just the left spotlight, and if your up for exploring the spotlight idea, maybe it could cast a light circle on the ground?? tell me if that needs more explanation.

Logo Designer
hi there - no worries, I've actually got that covered. if we show the light source it looks fine. I'll upload something tomorrow. I will explore the lighting rig ideas - that could work. and I get the light circle - maybe with shadows from the type. I'll explore!

yes, it's important to work as a stand-alone logo.

Hi Tommy,
This particular design is very much a work-in-progress. I wanted to upload something to protect the concept. I will be developing it further today - exploring lighting rig etc.

Nice one. thanks its looking good. i'm curious to see a single spot light. but i'll be patient and let you explore some concepts.

Client
nice. i like it.
could you try #64 with just the left spotlight only, and with the yellow & white writing from #38 on 'magic & illusion' and possibly move the lighting rig a little further away or dime the light a little so theres more contrast on the main 'tommy madison' word. hope that makes sense. thanks

#54 light source is a good distance from the main text

Logo Designer
aha - yes, I intended to do one like that! but never got it done before dinner!
all makes sense - I'll have it done soon.

Client
i still like the #38 for contrast though (the spotlight is even dimmer or further away) and the colours & size of 'magic & illusion' i'll leave the ranking as it is for now while we explore these last couple options.
Btw the lighting rig that you've done for the new ones looks great.

Logo Designer
I'll take that contrast factor into account for this next one. If I can nail it we can tweak any of the others if necessary - no problems.
glad you like the rig - simple and effective. i felt it had that "show" feel.

as discussed - I've dimmed lighting slightly as well.

Thanks, yea the lighting looks good now, im actually liking #70 just for its clean feel so far. just to be sure, can you try one more of #69 with black writing in the circle like a shadow. thanks

Logo Designer
here it is. looking at your website this single spotlight would sit well at top left (excuse the hard sell!)

Client
ha. yea i agree re the website. #72 is good with the black but im still preferring #70 so maybe we try the words comedy magician & comedy magic to exhaust all options. for fairness in my ranking i am putting the favourite 1 or 2 of each designer up before too many similar alternatives of one designer. so ive dropped the others back and gone with #70 for now.

no probs - here they are.

thank you. im still liking #70. well i think thats about as tweaked as i think we can go, so unless you have any other ideas, lets just sit on that for now. thanks for all the work.

Hey just thinking about how i would use this logo on say a letter head, that has a white background, how could that work, could it be reversed some how?

Logo Designer
Hey. No probs - there would be various ways of doing a letterhead. You could have a black panel, or one that fades with a gradient to white - and have the logo as it appears here. Or you could reverse the design for an on-white version (but you couldn't really have the light).
I'm sure there would be a solution – the design could have a shadow also (so keeping the lighting) that wouldn't need a full black panel.

Hey, when you get a chance could i get a #70 & #75 with just the word 'magic' underneath. cheers

Logo Designer
Hi Tommy. I've done the lighting on the word 'magic' slightly differently on these two new ones. I think I prefer this one - see what you think.

Hey, yea thats great, so clean. #91

Great - I did #90 first but felt it wasn't quite right, the lighting on 'magic'.

Yep, very clean.

Client
-could you do a #72 with magic, i meant to say 72 on the last post instead of 75.

so far your #91 is my favourite. could you try do one of these in reverse, on a white background, i think the spotlight could look okay in gray/black. just so i can see how it could look for the odd time i might need it.

Hi Charcoal, thank you very much for your designs and the willingness to keep changing them. it has been a very close contest and challenging for me to make a decision. It has been between you and DeeBee most of the time, In the end i have chosen DeeBee's design. If you can contact me after the comp and provide your contact details, it would be good to have you for some other designs i need. kind regards, Tommy
