What we do is not needed to be in the logo. I like what you did with the fireback, but we would much rather see a coat of arms for our company. Perhaps combining it could do the trick.
It's hard to decide if I like #8 or #9 better. They both look nice, but a little 'bold'. I already liked #1, #8 and #9 even look better!!! Keep going in that direction. Perhaps some 'royal' details like a knights head (as can be seen in the examples)?
