Hello,

Since you are vineyard, that says you have taste and some sophistication (but not a snob I hope:).
I would go the elegant route...

Your name is "The Vineyard" so you really don't need anything but well thoughtout typography,
combined with elegant colors. To me glasses and bottles are a bit over used.
Why not try something different ... I've come up with a simple mark that represents grapes.

Hope you like, feedback welcome.

There are 6 of us who have started the vineyard...Mom, Dad, 2 daughters and their hubbys...and we all have very different ideas. I agree with you...and your design would be 1 or 2 if I were alone in the picking. So, please don't withdraw yet! My dad's first response was what is that design? I said I think it represents the grapes...it was a little too abstract for him. I like the font used for The Vineyard but the font for at grandview is a little less appealing to me. My dad is really liking the designs using the V and G as the emblem. I personally don't like the style of the ones we have at the top now but they are the only ones using the V and G...could you perhaps adapt your design element to be just a little less abstract or more of a flowing VG? Would love that! Thanks

No problem ... thanks for the feedback. Wow, 6 family memebers trying to decide on a Logo, yikes!
It's totally impossible to choose paint colors with my wife and that's only one person :-)

I think a VG "mark" would be fine, I'll see what I come up with.

As far as the script for Grandview, I wanted to use a script that was not the traditional style script that
you see on Wedding invitations, etc. and it's original looking and has an Art Deco feeling so I chosse it over the normal scripts that were less interesting, I can try something else if needed.

thanks so much for your work!

for some reason the grandview font struck me as drive in or diner type font...but I agree that i don't want wedding invitation either...maybe something in between.

Logo Designer
Yes, I can see that. That's because many fonts from the 50's and 60's (diner type fonts, if you want to call them that) are deep routed in the Art deco stye and history of the 20's and 30's and the Industrial movements, etc. ... they all have that "retro" diner feeling to them because that's what the designers of the time had to look "back" to for reference.

Be glad to try other styles :)

Thx.

I thought maybe the VG script font configured inside of a grape that is made out of the same line weights as the font, so it looks like one in the same.

Aslo new script font and color combinations.

Feedback welcome.

thanks,

I like this better and so do the others I have talked to. We want to keep working with you in the judging phase. We have been doing our ranking over the phone this week but hope to get together in person to talk things out tomorrow!
One comment that was made in our talks was that in both designs #58 and #25 we'd like to see the grandview just a little bit larger. Thanks!

Would be my pleasure, since it looks like I'm in the top 5, I will have the time to make revisions.

thanks so much.

We really like the style of the g that you picked to use...would like to see some more variations...

Client
Can we see #90 with the green color from #25 and also with the at in lowercase?
Would you also do a variation with "THE" being not as prominent?

Client
can you take #25 and make the abstract grape cluster a little larger and like a water mark behind the font?

Logo Designer
Just gave you 5 new options ... by now you should be totally confused... :-) :-) :-)

Have fun, you only live once!!!
-Bill

Actually, all kidding aside these newest 5 options look excellent, not sure I can do any better ... very good Art direction on your end also!

I know you guys want a bottle or glass which is fine, but the water mark (Symbolic of grapes) is by far my favorite, because it is intelligent (makes the viewer think), it's unique and it would be very original to your vineyard and set you apart from the ordinary.

thanks for your encouragement and perspective.

Client
actually, we are not necessarily sold on the glass or bottle (see our last general comment) but dad, the main owner had originally wanted something with the vg and still leans toward that. i like your more abstract glass a lot. #90, #103, #106 i like a lot

Client
will you show us #103 and #106 in black and white or greyscale with black background please. we may use black on the labels and would like to be able to picture it better. thanks so much.

Client
I am in love and trying to convince the others (fran)
-Can you please show us one like #103 and #106 with the grandview just a little larger.
-could we see a design like #103 where the goblet became the Y instead of being above it (and again with grandview larger)
-after choosing our winner, can we have a file type were we are able to adjust the color scheme for printing based on what the rest of our label looks like...so we could use something like #103 on our chard and #132 on our fusion or desert wine???

Logo Designer
No problem. I make the adjustments.

Also, When I am lucky enough to win a contest, I make sure the Contest Holder has every type of file they
will ever need, no worries there :-)

If you care to PM me I can explain (LT Rules) everything in further detail.

Thanks

Also, I don't think you'll like the Goblet replacing the "Y" but I'll be glad to show you anyway.
(It will dramatically alter the negative and make the read slow and awkward, IMO )

Client
Thanks for working with us. The more we look at your designs, the more we like them (both). You may be right about the Y, but we appreciate seeing it anyway. Thanks again.

Client
We like that Grandview is bigger in 143-145, but would you mind decreasing the size of the at? Also, do you mind doing 143 with the Y a little bit smaller?

Logo Designer
Sure thing.

Client
You are now #1 and #2 - we are arguing over your designs.
Can you please slightly raise the at so that it is not on the same level as Grandview. And then can we see it will the black background.
thanks.

Logo Designer
no problem ... and remember what Grandmom said, "play nice" :-)

Client
At least we're fighting over 2 of your designs right :)

Don't mean to be a pain, but if "at" can be moved up even further and then it might have to be moved a bit closer to the G. Also, In 167 and 168 the Grandview still seams a little bit small. What would it look like to keep the G as is and increase the randview part?

Logo Designer
never a pain...I'll be glad to show you.

Client
ok so the less abstract thinkers among us are concerned that the water mark would not be able to "stand alone" as a representation of our business...although my argument is that with time like any brand recognition it would and would be nice by itself on napkins or glasses, etc.

so, at the risk of further threats from competitors would you please use the vg as a watermark in place of the other design (without the goblet) and will you show us what the vg and goblet look like alone (without the words)

Fran

Logo Designer
It won't work...it's to delicate .... I guess I'll have to show you :-)

It will however work as a stand alone mark. I'll show you the marks by themselves also.

If you place the text down lower (near the bowl of the goblet) you have half a chance of it working.

If you place the text centered it blocks the script letter and looks like a mess.

Client
One more thing (can I take back my one suggestion from earlier..lol). With 169 I'm thinking that "at" and Grandview are a little closer then I'd like. I realize you don't have a lot of wiggle room in order to keep the design in the same dimensions, but would you try to move them apart just a hair? Thanks!
Sarah

Client
actually what I meant was to try vg in the other design in place of the abstract grape watermark...
then show us the goblet/vg alone
sorry if i was not clear...

my other question is a general one about the contest...I work from 8am to 10pm tomorrow. Since you are our top designer is it possible for us to continue to decide between these 2 logos in the judging phase? can we continue to work with and think about both designs or do we need to pick one by 8am?

Fran

Logo Designer
Yes, the #1 ranked designer is the only one able to submit revisions during judging phase.

Logo Designer
Yes in 169 "at" was a little close, good catch. See 179 with a little more air.

Client
Much better...thank you. We are going to sleep on it. You may not hear from us tomorrow due to our work schedules. Thanks again for all of your revisions! We appreciate your time.

#192 is wonderful with the green at top and purple at bottom. right on.
I think with the red we liked it the other way though...with the red at the top of the goblet and at the bottom of the cluster - can you switch it in 194 and 197?

Logo Designer
sure thing!

Client
oh...and #198 switched too so that the Grandview is in white.

Client
179 and 195....is 195 just bigger overall or are the dimensions different? Also, in 200 can you make it so that Grandview is more white?

Logo Designer
All the same scale as before, just enlarged it in the space, so you could see it better.

Logo Designer
202 is 200 with brighter white Grandview.

Client
Like that much better. same thing in 178 vs 199 - like the bright white to red...but you don't have to change it if you don't want.
Would you make the "randview" part of #148, #192, #193 a little bigger?

Thanks again for your input on the 2 logos. It helps us make an educated decision vs a decision based on preference alone.

Client
i think we are all in agreement to go with one of the variants of 148...
Scott (sarah's husband) wanted the grandview to be bigger as in #204 and I guess that is ok but I feel like the symmetry is thrown off when the at is not the same as the "randview" and at the same level...is it smaller or just not as bold? (I liked the at a little higher in the other design but not this one) Do you agree because I value your opinion tremendously.

Sarah and I were also talking and we still aren't sure which color scheme to use as the official logo and part of that is because we will likely change the color on different labels and we don't know exactly what the tasting room is going to look like yet. So, if it is ok, I am just going to pick one for the winner and then have you upload the different ones that we have seen so far...black with color, black and white and the original color scheme. we may have to do some adjusting of the colors later.
the other file type that we will likely need is a .png for our website if that is possible.
Thanks again so much. You have done a fabulous job.

Hi Fran

I think the "at" and "Grandview" should be on the same base line, and the same font size.

It should read as one though, when you raise "at" or make it smaller it puts a pause in the flow that's completely unnecessary and kinda looks like a mistake, and it will stand out like a sore thumb over time.

I think raising the "at" on 195 works becasue it creates some nice balance

I've just posted 206 where the "at Grandview" in a tad bigger than 148 but not as gigantic :) as 204 where it almost starts to overpower THE VINYARD.

Let me know your thoughts...
