Discussion

Hi Taylor, Sorry to join the contest late in the game like this, but I wanted my design to be finalized and presentable before submitting anything. Take a look and let me know what you think. I will be happy to adjust colors and/or the content, as needed. Thanks!

Here is an alternate version, with hybrid lacrosse/hockey sticks...

#61, Here is a great, final logo that combines my previous efforts into one. I hope you like it!

Alternate color-scheme, although I think I prefer the white bordered version best...

Alternate design, instead of the star icon...

Wow! These are all great. It is hard to decide which is better. We definitely love your work.

Okay, here's the question. Can you put the word "the" in the star concepts...We like the oval #66 but would like to see the top and bottom of the sticks. Can you put the heel of the hockey stick and the head of a hockey stick both at the top of the design with the stick handles at the bottom? Does the weight of the graphic make throw the design off? Something like 56 but with the head and heel at the top of the design? I hope that is clear.....we'd love to see that both in the star and the oval....with the word THE.

These are great. Thank you.

Hi it is me again. I think I like the oval the best. The points of the star might compete with the sticks too much. If you could focus on the oval that would be great with the tops and bottoms tweaked to match the bottoms....so that the handles are at the bottom and the head/heal of the sticks are at the top. I am referring to #66...and I'd like to see what it would look like on a white background if possible. Thanks so much. T

That sounds great. I will get revisions done and posted later today!

I think this is what you were describing. I will go ahead and do the same with the star design as well, just so you can compare the two.

Here it is on the star design. I think it still works this way as well; it's just a matter of preference.

Here is the best version thus far, which would accommodate both light and dark backgrounds because of the borders!

Hi again,
Our favored design is #66. We are concerned that the lacrosse sticks are actually girl's sticks. You can only tell because the female sticks have a shallower pocket at the head. Is there any chance you can look into this and make sure they are men's lacrosse sticks? Or swap the two sticks out for men's lacrosse heads? Sorry. Details. (men's lacrosse sticks have deeper pockets than the girl's sticks).

We decided this is a better design because the hockey sticks appear the way you play hockey....heel of the stick on the ice rather than in the air like a lacrosse stick.

That said, could you extend the length of the sticks ever so slightly so that there is a little air between the head of the lacrosse sticks and the heel of the hockey sticks and the emblem? Take a look at the star you did. There is just a little more stick showing which is nice.

If we go with this logo, we will want to explore how to handle this on a white field a little further.

Best, Taylor

That sounds great, Taylor. I will get some revisions done asap. As far as the sticks go, I just drew them after looking at a bunch of sticks--I can try to make the pockets deeper, but I think a lot of that has to do with the angle and the fact that it's stick silhouettes.

I will get started on this right now, and try and get you some revisions to review asap!
Thanks!

Here is a revised entry, based on your last comments. I made the pocket more prominent/deep, and then I also made the sticks jut out more. And then to compensate for more stick showing, I enlarged the main text a bit to keep it all balanced.

Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Oh, and like you said--we can figure an alternate version for white/light backgrounds later. Although, as mentioned before, I can put a nice navy border on this and it would look great. (We can discuss this more later.)

Hi again. We are really liking this.

We'd like to adjust the pocket slightly. The new netting on the back of the two lacrosse sticks just needs to move down a little closer to the laces to be accurate....to look anatomically correct if you get what I mean.

We are really close here, and we like it very much.

Thanks, T

That sounds great! I should be able to start revisions later tonight or tomorrow, and have new designs up first thing in the morning. Talk with you then!

Good morning Taylor,

I took a look at more sticks online to get a better idea of what you meant, and then I went ahead and tweaked the pocket depth and placement. Take a look and see if this looks closer to what you were hoping for.

Thanks!

And here is a new crest-type emblem I came up with as well. This one allows for all 4 sticks to jut out from the sides, making the logo all fit together better and not be quite as tall. I really like this one a lot, so I look forward to hearing what you think!

Making the sticks silver would allow for the design to work on even white!...
