Hi Leslie! Here is my initial idea for your logo. It's an emblem based on the concept of a wheat penny. My dad and I used to collect them when I was a kid, so I suppose I have a personal connection when thinking about collecting pennies. I read your article about the project and checked out your blog -- I think it's really neat. I have a feeling I'll be spotting a lot more pennies on the street from now on... at least, I hope I do!
I knew right away this was based on the wheat penny...LOVE IT!!! And thank you for submitting the design reversed on brown as well...I really like that for the t-shirt my friend wants!! :-)
I posted some feedback earlier about the idea of the path in #12 being a something my family (who is standing over my shoulder as I do all of this...finding pennies has really become a family affair!) really likes. But I'm not sure what specific feedback I can give you about your design...I really like it the way it is.
I will think about it and come back later today when/if I have specific ideas.

Ok, although I love the idea of this being based on a wheat penny (#2, #3, #4), three separate people have given me the feedback that this reminds them of a logo for a bread company. Now that they've said that...I can't get it out of my mind. Is there any way you can play with the design and make it look less bakery/bread realated? I'm not even sure what that means...but the wheat idea just isn't playing with the test crowd I've shown it to.
One of the guys who said that came back to me with an idea about doing a mix of a penny & a globe (i.e. a coin w/ the continents imposed on it...or something like that. He even thought of coming up with new words to go with it--Find change, change the world--or something along those lines.). Not sure if that's something you want to play around with, but it could be interesting.
