Here is my initial design idea, given your design brief and background. I went with a classic sports emblem/shield look, and used a secluded-feeling design to reflect your name and location.
#4 shows the design on a white/transparent background -and- #5 shows how it would look on a green background. Besides screaming football, this has a white border on it so the logo will look great on virtually any color.
Let me know what you think about these colors, as well as the content, and we can go from there. I will be happy to work back and forth with you as needed, until we get this exactly how you were envisioning it.
