what I like: - use of color, the orange is very warm and energetic - font selection is good, interesting, almost fluid without being flimsy - I like the beach/tropical iconography - I prefer the horizontal orientation of #24 to the stacked orientation of #23
what I don't like - the icon seems too busy, I'm looking for things to take away. For example I like the simplified version in #24 more than the version in #23 that include 'wave lines'. Maybe it would be better without the palm tree?
I like both of these variations, but I worry they too closely resemble the Pepsi logo. Perhaps the orange is too close to Pepsi's red?
I am found of the Tao/yin-yang symbol and feel it is consistent with the 'topia' part of the brand. I like of these later variation play on that theme -- without being an obvious yin-yang symbol.
Also what if the icon were rotated so that the 'wave' were flatter/calmer/gentler? I know that would reduce the 'S' shape. Hmmm... but it would also look even more like the Pepsi logo. Maybe not such a good idea after all.
My concern is that the current orientation looks like the 'sun' is about to be extinguished by the wave. I like it, but it feels a bit off balance. Does that make sense?
Some ideas: - perhaps the 'sun' shape could break the boundary of the outer circle? - you could try variations of the 'wave' shape to avoid similarity to Pepsi logo - perhaps a variation in a square instead of circle?
I like the direction of this concept, but I really cannot use it if it immediately looks like a Pepsi logo
Another idea I had suggested in the general comments was the idea of a 'beach ball' -- it has the potential to be an iconic, playful brand image. Perhaps if the icon were more beach-ball-like it would look less Pepsi-like?
re #60 We really like the beach ball and the additional color.
But we are concerned a beachball is too playful and does not convey the 'energy' and drive we need to convey to appeal to a competitive swimming market.
Please see our updated contest brief and recent general comments.
#240 is visually stunning - it's a much better "beach ball" without being a beach ball. The line that crosses the wave does not seem to have a purpose. It is a flourish? or does it signify something?
#233 is also interesting, but we don't particularly like having the words 'swim' and 'topia' separated. #240 has the advantage that as an icon it could stand alone without the words. I'm imaging logos on swim caps here.
