I like this new idea but not sure it's stronger than your prior version. Maybe we should let go of the S altogether (I like the S conceptually but maybe it's an unnecessary design limitation). See if you can create a new idea that is even more impactful. What I love about your designs is they are simple, modern and artistic. What I still want to evolve is the power and impact. The kind of logo you can't overlook. You're the best. Please keep going. It's almost there. Thanks. 5 years ago MightyBeaver commented on #273 Withdrawn Hi, new revision with S flowing from the bottom to the top of the chef hat. Any feedback appreciated. With regards, Kamil 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #230 Withdrawn What happens when you put the gold on a white background? Does it fade out? We really like the way the gold stands out on a black background but might need to change to black for a white background. 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #173 Withdrawn This is our other favorite design you created. We love the simplicity. This one also has a bit more modern feel. Please submit any creative ideas you have to evolve this design. We don't have as many specific suggestions here so we will leave it to your creative genius. As mentioned we're looking for a logo that feels like one thing. And with this one in particular I would say focus on any ideas that increase impact and make it even more unique and memorable. Thanks. 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #167 Withdrawn Regarding this design specifically. Since this design is the same as 169 there’s really only one specific thing I want to point out here. When you look at this in black and white, the dark background doesn’t support the one thing feel as well. So, I think this black and white version kind of better illustrates the need to evolve this design in some way to make it feel more like one cohesive thing. Other than that, all the other same stuff I noted on the gold and black version below still applies. I copied it below for convenience. Hat: With regard to the hat. We like the S. We also like how simple the hat is (sort of just the essence of the hat without too much detail). But the shape still feels like it needs to evolve a little. Maybe, it still resembles a light bulb a bit too much or maybe it's a little too swirly or maybe still too tall compared to its width or something. We would like to see if you have any creative ideas to evolve that element slightly without losing the essence but maybe going more toward a chefs hat or something. One cohesive thing: With this design we still want to explore any ideas you have to bring the text and hat together a bit more in context. They still feel a bit like separate elements. Maybe a line that mimics the bottom of the hat can be under the text to create inclusion or something. Please explore any creative ideas you can come up with the bring the font and the text together so it feels like one cohesive thing just a bit more. Summary: We're not looking for huge changes with this design but rather a small evolution. Please submit any creative ideas you may have. Whatever ideas you might have for this design please also submit them in the black and white version. Thanks. 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #169 Withdrawn Regarding this design specifically. Background: While we really like the gold with black background because of the impact it creates, we're not sure if it will be as versatile for use on white backgrounds. So, that's why we are also interested in the black and white version of this #167. Hat: With regard to the hat. We like the S. Thanks. 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #169 Withdrawn Hi: Congratulations you're a finalist. Love your work. The three designs you created that we like most are this one #169, #167 and #173. I will make separate comments on each of these designs. Please develop going forward knowing those three designs are our favorites. You're a very talented designer and we really appreciate your creativity. Thanks, David 5 years ago MightyBeaver commented on #155 Withdrawn Hi, just added new revisions with font and hat tweaks. Any suggestions or directions appreciated. With regards, Kamil 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #97 Withdrawn Hi Kamil: Plenty of time remaining (1 day 3 hours). Look forward to your updated ideas. Regards, David 5 years ago MightyBeaver commented on #97 Withdrawn Hi David! Thanks for the detailed and exhausting (in a good Way) feedback. I'm nów away from my workplace, so will provide some new revisions todays evening or tomorrow. With regards, Kamil 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #101 Withdrawn This is creative but in my humble opinion the blocky angular text and the curvy top of the hat don't work together well enough. 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #100 Withdrawn Hi Kamil: The goal is to get a logo that feels like one thing. How to make this work is up to you and your creative genius. Try some fundamentally different ideas here to see what you can come up with. HORIZONTAL BARS: These bars are good, in the way, it connects the hat and the text but it needs to work in the context of the overall design. Here's a couple suggestions to inspire ideas (I'm not suggesting you try all of these in the same design-they're just for ideas and might be implemented separately or in some combination): Maybe try a simple change by removing current bars and replace with small lower bar that is like or mimics the bottom of the hat with the text more or less like it is now (except using a font like described in FONT below). Maybe try expanding the hat and work the text into the hat itself somehow. To make these type of concepts work the hat has to get much larger so the hat becomes the shape of the whole logo or some other design element or background creates the boundaries. If the text is on or somehow incorporated into the hat I don't think the text necessarily needs to be entirely contained by the hat (the text could break the boundaries). Maybe stack the text SUPER over CHEFS in some way. Maybe stacked text could appear as if its on the lower part of the hat just below the current bottom by adding another similar band lower down below the text. Maybe the SUPER starts with the S in the hat and continues with UPER and the CHEFS. Maybe the text doesn't have to flow in a straight line maybe it could curve or be in a rounded shape like in this example from our Contest Attachments section of this contest https://logotournament.com/attachment/46367.png FONT: This font is bold enough (meaning weight and line thickness) but its a bit too angular to work with the flowing curvy aspects of your hat element. What we're looking for is a logo that feels like one cohesive thing instead of text with a hat symbol above it. For the text to work in conjunction with the hat we need some similar flow that brings them together in context. Also, I would experiment with the text spacing-a little less space between letters in each word SUPER and CHEFS but slightly more (not a full space) between the two words (just enough extra space between SUPER CHEFS to increase readability). In summary, for this "one thing" concept maybe try some fundamentally different ideas. Regards, David 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #97 Withdrawn Hi Kamil: First you're awesome. You're a talented designer and I want you to have the creative freedom to do what you think looks best. That said, I don't think I communicated very clearly in my last message so will add more detail this time. FONT: This font is bold enough (meaning weight and line thickness) but its a bit too angular to work with the flowing curvy aspects of your hat element. What we're looking for is a logo that feels like one cohesive thing instead of text with a hat symbol above it. Also, I would experiment with the text spacing-a little less space between letters in each word SUPER and CHEFS but slightly more (not a full space) between the two words (just enough extra space between SUPER CHEFS to increase readability). HAT: I still feel like the width of the upper portion of the hat needs to get wider (not necessarily the line weight-unless you think it needs it) but imagine if you squashed the hat from the top to make it broader. A little less like a light bulb shape (I like the bright idea connotation but I think this needs to scale wider). Try to keep the S. Just widen the upper section a bit to bring a little more proportional balance with how wide the text is below. Please try working with these suggestions and send any creative ideas you come up with. Thank you, David 5 years ago MightyBeaver commented on #69 Withdrawn Hi, Thanks for ranking and feedback. Just added some additional revisions. Any suggestions appreciated. With regards, Kamil 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #67 Withdrawn I really admire your work. The simplicity and uniqueness are what we are looking for. I would challenge you to explore one other design concept to see if you can come up with some creative ideas. In our Contest Attachments section for this contest we included some other logos we had created previously. Here’s a link that hopefully will take you directly to the example I want to use. https://logotournament.com/attachment/46364.jpg See how this logo integrates the text into whole logo making it feel more like one cohesive thing rather than a symbol with separate text below it. Please see if you think of any creative ways to work the SUPER CHEFS text into the symbol to create something that feels like one thing. But just to clarify I don’t want to lose the simplicity and elegance of your original design concept. Just want to create connection and cohesiveness. Would love to see any evolution like this you can create. Thanks. 5 years ago davidwhitmer commented on #69 Withdrawn Hi Mighty Beaver. This is pretty awesome. I love the simplicity. I would love to see you evolve this to be even more bold. Check out the font called Regius. You can Google it and find examples. Not that I am suggesting you use that exact font but just to illustrate what I mean by bold. As already stated I love the simplicity so don’t complicate the design but I would also be keen to see an evolution of the chef hat symbol that’s a bit wider. Maybe that’s it just wider I don’t know but it seems proportionally a bit taller compared to it’s width and heft. One last thing I love how your concept is not too literal meaning it’s clear that it’s a chefs hat but not any more detailed than needed. There’s some excellent design creativity in your work. Love it. Please send an evolution and any other ideas you have. Thanks 5 years ago
