Very creative concept using dolphin bodies to create sun image and also depict a camera iris on entry #107. How could we incorporate some orange and black?
ok I am developing new ideas. thanks for the feedback. I think that the icon functions independently of the text. Sun + Dolphin + Diaphragm of camera Is my idea for this contest. I hope you like
From design #I08-#109 to #133-#134, can see the evolution of the circled dolphins forming a sun. The interesting thing about 108 and 109 is the fact that the non-overlapping design creates a camera iris illusion. To me this symbolized the two elements of our company name "Sun" and "Dolphin" AND a hint of our service with the camera iris. For this reason, I still prefer the first two of this type design.
The dolphin/film reel design is intriguing. We are going to study that one some more. You might try experimenting with a more pronounced orange color and include a bit of yellow, as purple, orange and yellow are our three primary company colors, accented of course with black.
Fernando, Thank you for your updates. I would like to tweak design number 178 by changing the company name to solid black with the buttons at the bottom burnt orange. Thank you for your excellent work thus far.
# 189 looks good! We really appreciate your work. I like where this is going!
Could we see this a small tweak of this same design with the play buttons more burnt orange and the dolphins arranged in the circle purple, orange, black yellow, purple, orange, black, yellow.... Instead of 2 of the same color dolphins together?
It appears there has been some misunderstanding over our rankings for this contest. We have (had) our top 5 designers in each of the top five ranking slots. Thereafter, all designs are grouped by designer, making their relative ranking irrelevant to the outcome of the contest. I made this change after receiving an email form Logo Tournament explaining, at my request, how the top 5 are determined. Evidently, some designers assumed by the changes that we were no longer interested in their designs, which couldn't be further from fact.
I assure you, if your design is in one of the top five ranking slots, your design has an equal chance of winning as any other of the top 5.
Thanks for the update on color variation I requested - I'd like to see one more please. Could you make all the dolphins black and the center yellow (representing the sun). Make the SunDolphin name royal purple and the play buttons underneath orange.
Also, question.... do you think the logo looks better with or without the tag line?
update # 203 #204 reply : do you think the logo looks better With or Without the tag line? From my point of view. * The logo should work without the tag line. * The logo should say it all without tag line. The tag line should be used in particular cases.
1 First capture the attention.sundolphin 2 then provide a clear and simple message 3 If our audience is still there.:) Saying we do and who we are.
I like the way you think! Thanks for your opinion/advice.
Now, let me say this... I'm sorry I ever said 'burnt orange'. Ha ha. Please start using a true orange. I really like the yellow, it's perfect.
All that said, we would like to see #203 design with the colors on the emblem inverted (yellow dolphins and black center). But make the emblem the same size as the emblem in 108 (the one with the eyes on the dolphins).
The whole camera diaphragm that you came up with is so genuinely creative and it's just a matter of tweaking the color scheme and size until we hit the sweet spot.
One thing we've determined is that we prefer the dolphin fins to define the outside of the emblem. Thanks for providing us that 'full circle' visual.
Hello Fernando, We thought of one more possible color variation we'd like to consider: Let's try making the center black, with the dolphins alternating between purple, orange, and yellow. That should make it possible to include all colors of our palette, and still have the math work out. If that doesn't work, we will most likely stay with all dolphins being a single color.
I do not know what time it is in Spain, but here in Alabama, US, it is 1:20 am. I think we will call it a night...or morning.
Great revisions! #233 does look fun! I think the fins on the dolphins appear to get lost when they are in yellow as in #232. I've got to think on this a bit - may have to go back to the slightly smaller in scale emblem of dolphins in #207(without being enclosed in circle - still deciding on that too).
Also, could I see the the dolphins in #233 with eyes? And can I see the SunDolphin name in black and the play buttons in yellow?
May I also suggest a variation on the color orange. The orange I have in mind is a richer orange - if you look at our current logo at sundolphinproductions.com there's a gradient to a rich orange that I prefer - I'd like to try that in your design.
You have been so great to work with! Thank you! SunDolphin
Hi Update. #236 sundolphin in black + button in yellow. #237 sundolphin in black + dolphin with eyes #238 option new contour black #239 sundolphin in orange + buttons in black
Hi! #238, can we try the orange dolphins as more 'tangerine' orange. Also, in the same design #238, could the play buttons be yellow with a black outline? Would that work? I like them yellow, but it's hard to see them, maybe if they have a small black outline that will work.
Update #270 the orange dolphins as more 'tangerine' orange and play buttons yellow on black background. #271 play buttons yellow with black border. #272 play buttons orange
That's the orange we were looking for! Thanks for the revisions. Your work is always on target. We'll get back with you about the buttons - we may like the orange better.
Hi Fernando, For entry 272, is there anything we can do to slightly break up the black in the middle, such as a slightly thin white line underneath the bellies of the dolphins to outline the aperture opening?
Hi update #313 with the yellow outlined buttons. Thanks for your comments I am happy to participate in your project and very satisfied with the results.:)
Thanks Fernando, great work! Can your believe we have another request? We would like to see entry #309 with the play buttons purple instead of orange and not outlined. Let's see how that looks.
Thank you so much for accommodating all our revisions. You've been great.
Hi! I just read a General Discussion forum that was for designers and contest holders. I discovered it trying to find what the next process is in our contest. Good info, wish I would have discovered it sooner.
I have a question... Does transferring those designs of yours that we aren't currently working on, or considering, to the 'not-interested' bin hurt your points? I'm still not sure I get how the points work, but currently we are still considering and tweaking 4 of your designs in the 'Ranked' section.
hi SunDolphin update #330 I do not understand the question. :( But we are independent designers and our work must be different. we propose different ideas and work together with you. I hope I can help.
Regardless of which of the 2 designs we may go with (330 or 272) we prefer the buttons to be purple. For entry 272, could you make the buttons purple too for comparison purposes?
We think the purple makes the buttons look more like an extension of the letters yet there is enough contrast to make them distinguishable as play buttons. What do you think?
We like this project too. We have probably taken this particular design about as far as we know to take it. We've been discussing how this logo would translate in to gray scale since some applications will require gray scale. Will this translate well in to gray scale?
Internally we have been debating the importance of keeping a design as simple as possible and still conveying our message as a top end video production company. In the short time we have remaining, if you want to explore ideas outside of the current designs of yours, which we want to keep, that would be of interest to us.
We are enjoying working with you! Thank you, SunDolphin
Hi update #335 I think we keep the essence. I always think of my design for grayscale. It is a golden rule of the designers. Think black and white first, then put color. :)
