Hi, hope this logo might "suit" your needs. I was going for a scotch label feel, maybe even a wine label. It can also be taken as the front of a tux or dickey for a suit. I think it's fun yet classy, like the event sounds to be. I also added the "Distilled in Alberta" text and the year just for fun to add more to the label feel. This is a spot where we could incorporate the location of the event and the year etc. A nice way to tie in event details right into the logo. I'm from B.C. and I was just assuming it might be held in Alberta if there will be a lot of oil people and investment people etc? But the details can be changed easily enough.
Thanks for your consideration.
Thanks

I really like this logo, howeverI find the logo fun which I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad. I've been drawn to the dark colors as I find them very elegant. The black and red logos that have been submitted are very eye catching. I know I'm not really helping you out, let me look at it some more and get you some more feed back as I really like this.

Ok I think I've refined it a bit to make it more classy than just fun. The idea of it being a scotch label is a little more obvious now with the biege colored label, and I've changed the rusty color to a red you like, which helps it read more like a label. I really like it, I'm glad I got to try some refining of the idea. It's good to get the first idea out there and see if the client is liking the direction first off, then I can go back in and fine tune the idea. I like how at first glance you see a shirt and bowtie, but then realize it's also a bottle label as well.
Anyways, let me know if this is getting closer or have any other feedback like combining elements from each other etc.
Thanks!
