Subsurface Inc.Logo Design Contest

I like the simple look of #62, and the flame inside #61. I'm not all that interested in a oil drop logo, and I've already got too many of them. Can you keep trying to work towards a sophisticated look for me? My audience is 40 year old business people. I'd like to see something that has rock layers in it, with a bit of complexity, yet still elegant.

Does that make sense?

The little globe icon in these designs doesn't work for me. The rest is great. Can you come up with some other thing to represent geology?

#186 is nice. You can go back to colour now. I just needed to see it in black and white to see if the icon's worked. I like the magnifying glass. Geology's international symbol is two crossed rock hammers. It might be better.
