I like the idea of using a graphic element as the dot in the 'i', however, not the academic symbolism of the grad cap.
Also, I would like to see more of a revamp of the "S + i + cross" themed symbol rather than simply adding other elements too it.
As a side note, I was never overly satisfied with the thinness of the line between the top of the "i/t" and the dot above it in our old logo.
