Good feedback. I would like to see the styles reversed. Funny- up until a week ago, I've been calling it Steel Magnolias. We had to add moms in order to get the name filed with the state for non profit. So to me- the moms is kind of secondary. I refer to the moms as just Steel Magnolias so I think that's where my heart is. I like having the colors the way they are now instead of what's in 2nd place. Think it breaks it up and is a little softer.
I would say for this if MOMS is the most important in the logo (which seems so to me) then it needs to be the darker. If Magnolia is primary for the way it is reading then it would be this way. And the gradient color unifies both.
If you want the weight of each MOMS and Magnoliia to be equal you might go back to the one you have in 2nd place right now.
Just some of my thoughts.
Yes, it is easy. We can try it. Magnolia is a duotone also. Do you want me to transpose the colors from the two?
It is a matter of just transposing from one to the other. Give me a little bit.
If it's easy, let's see it. We may need that bolder color to anchor the weight of the logo. But just so we know we know. If you hand built that color application and it's a pain, don't worry about it :)

Well I know for a fact we're going with it! I would like to see moms a little smaller- don't want that to the first thing you see and I think bc of the color variation that already pulls attention to it. Then we just have to finalize colors. But I have to tell you I'm obsessed with this flower and absolutely LOVE what you have created!! Thank you! If it makes it easier to go ahead and end the tourney- I can!

btw for any color changes that you may want you can just send me a link from what you like that is online...google 'Pantone Greens' whatever you are looking for and send me an image link. I will match from there. Some Pantone colors are online without the book.
Oh and I forgot- sorry one more thing. I noticed that last round that the green coloring on the most bottom leaf was different from before. It had more white space. Can you revert it back to the way it was? THanks!

Hi there! I think you're saying my last message got deleted. I was saying I like the flower that is rotated in such a way that the stemen pretty much follows the line of sight of the first line in M in Magnolia (not this one- this one above the stemen points more to the left). The other benefit of the flower I am talking about is the petal slightly graces, but does not overlap the first line of the M in Magnolia (as it does here). Then I was asking if the leaves could be moved down (more like 6:30-7:00) so those two that are clustered together are straddling the petal that is at 7:00. Does that make sense? I don't know the process you go through, so didn't want to make a bunch of unnecessary work if you can tell me that won't work or not look right. My thought is if you simply rotate the flower and leaves as a whole unit clockwise to achieve the placement of the stemen and direction the flower points open, the leaves will no longer be in the SW corner of the flower. Like the size of steel and slogan- we're good on that!

but the changes are very slight on the upturn on the leaves. STEEL and slogan are a bit larger. I will be here for a couple of hours and will watch for your comments. Thank you!
Thanks for the ctl+ tip- that helped! I like the placement of the flower on this one. I like the direction the stemen points and I like how the petal just grazes the M of Magnolia. The other one overlaps the M a little more and the stemen is pointed more left. Is it easy to keep the flower where it is and rotate the leaves down a little, more where the are on that other one you rotated? Or is that going to pose a problem with where the leaves are in relation to the petal? I don't want to create more/unnecessary work for you, so just asking first if that's an option.

I'm having a hard time seeing the difference because I'm not able to blow up both versions next to each other. Also- can't tell if the Steel and Slogan has been enlarged. Sorry- we have so many comment threads, my last ones may have gotten lost.
Yes- I like that leaf placement much better, thank you! And I definitely like slogan without the period. Did you see my last note re the Steel and Slogan a little bigger? I'm on my phone now, so can't tell if that's different relative to how it looked on my computer. After we deal with that sizing, I think we just need to confirm exact colors. I have a Pantone book at my office, which I may be able to get this afternoon.
Looks good. Like the period off the slogan. Think Steel could still be a little bit bigger/taller. Could we go up font size by one point for slogan? Then maybe condense if needed to it still aligns with Moms? It's just beautiful!
When you are ready to do your biz cards we can make adjustments on the slogan if needed.
I will work on the leaves. The only thing about the leaves smaller in reality comparing the leaves are actually even larger than I have them but they are too overpowering the IMO I wouldn't go smaller because that is one of the recognizable things about a Magnolia tree.

1. Period or no period at end of slogan?
2. Will slogan be legible when logo is sized down for letterhead and biz cards
3. Rather than having the three leaves all equally spaced, I'd like to see two of them clustered next to each other (thinking the 6:30 and 8:00 ones) Or maybe make them a tiny bit smaller? What do you think? Right now my eye reads them almost like feathers on a headdress.
4. Make Steel a little bigger?
5. Address the exact colors used.
6. Once we agree and I approve, can I reach you some other way if I wanted additional design help- could I go directly to you?

Can we also add a magnolia petal on top (so like on the far side of the flower) so it looks like we're looking a little more down into the flower? And that coral pop on the base- extend it just a little. Now that the magnolia will be on the left (where Steel is) I think the leaves should be on the left and bottom. Like maybe 11:00 two clustered around 7:00 and 7:45. Okay- about to hit to road to head back home- have a 5 hour drive. Will look when I get home. Thank you!!!!
Yes- we are getting there! On the right track! Think we should have Steel on top and flower in upper left corner like the other layout you did. Definitely like Steel and Slogan in gray color. I'm excited! We are getting close!
I was thinking the same thing on the gray slogan. Was thinking you may have trouble with visibility on printing in some cases. But could be adjusted for the application. Or a darker gray than on Steel would work too.
Just saw your comment about the 100%- yes think I like the 100%. I think once we have design, placement and general idea of color, we should discuss colors in pantone so we can be very intentional with exact colors. Thank you, Tere! I'm leaning towards this layout (with new flower). But think having the words stacked is easier to read. But I really like the Steel in gray and the slogan in black. Or maybe we do both steel and slogan in gray? I know I'm not going to want all the text to be in the bright color.
Can we remove the leaf on top and keep the original one on the left side instead? Think with either layout (flower centered on top or to the left) i think the leaves should be on left and bottom. Until we know which layout we go with- let's just move the one on top to left and then we'll fine tune the placement of the other two leaves based on final layout. I like the light peach in the petals to give it dimension. Can you do that base of the stemen even brighter coral? So it's a nice pop? Like a PMS 171?
Do you like the rest of the colors? Any suggestions that you would prefer other than on the stamen? I will move 3 leaves around but if you have a preference on which to keep let me know.
I think this one is hard to know what it is at first. Like the other angel better- looking more into flower rather than from side angle

I used a photo of a Magnolia that I took a photo of as reference. Often draw them. Yes, they are just white with a little color on the stamen. But there are shadows represented be soft colors. The petals are very distinctive in their shape and way they lay and curl up on the edges. Also there is a pink magnolia too. I will try another angle maybe it will work for you or have it open up more it is a later stage of the flower. I will try some color wash in the background to may it pop and it then can be completely white with a golden or light yellow shadow which can happen in reality. I will work on that for your shortly.

I wonder if removing the gradient inside the flower and using little pops of color (our yellow and coral) in the stemen. And use the fine dark green with maybe gray? for the outline of the flower?
Hi Tere- Thanks for everything. Yesterday my mom looked at them and had a valid point. Magnolias are white and she said she didn't think the latest ones look like a magnolia. You have put so much effort into this- and I love the fonts and much of what you have done. Do you see the other designer's magnolia that I have ranked? I like how you look at that and say- that's a magnolia. It looks very much like the magnolia picture I uploaded and use on our FB page. I'm not asking you to copy it, but I'm wondering what kind of design magic you could do to make this flower look unmistakably like a magnolia.

This one is even a little bit darker coral/peach gradient on the flower outline and the dark green drop shadow showing a little more. Also this one is with the different font on "Magnolia"
Also just a note again the one if 1st right now I missed the S and F capped and corrected on all the other entries.

I like this flower. I'd love to see it with the dark green shading from the flower i Just commented on. Don't think I want the whole logo to be this color. i like to reserve the pop for the flower.
I like how this has ever so little green to give it depth. Can you add some of the poppier coral that you've used. Not the orange, but a warmer peach or coral?
On this one I brightened up the colors and gradients on your name. Bolded "STEEL" and your slogan.

Could you show this same one with different Magnolia script fonts? I love the Steel and Moms font- don't change that. Also, would like to see it with the slogan "A Special Place for Special Moms" on the bottom. As for the flower- I like the idea of having color there and more than one. Not crazy about the ombre green to peach. Could you use color in a shading application or some other way? Is the text dark green or black? I've been thinking I'd do black but the black green could be nice. I'd like to see the colors in the flower be happy colors. Maybe a little more pop in that blush? Thank you, Tere, for all your effort in this! I'll say my friends and family are digging your designs (me too)!
You can use a stacked design on a vertical business card. There are many possibilities depending on your budget to add other than just the paper stock options. I can also set up files work directly with your printing source for different applications.

I like the L in Steel. Would like to see colors more dynamic. Something to make it not as flat. Also don't want Magnolia and Moms to be in exact same font style
