I was immediately drawn to the #8 Entry because of the ESPN look. It certainly communicates the context of the site - at the same time I wonder if it borrows too much. I need to think about it.
Regarding Entry #9 - I like the simple Mark followed by the name. The mark symbolizes statistics but I am not sure it communicates sports statistics. The colors are not working.
