So actually thinner width wise is not what I had intended. I meant to say thinner horizontal thickness, but the overall width of the first was better. I like the "box" shape. Just thinner horizontal lines. and dots.
I've made the icon narrower and the stacked bars slightly thinner. Is this what you had in mind?
I've also experimented with a more condensed font. I was in the process of trying others when Illustrator crashed. I'll submit variations later, once I have it back up and running again.
Are you looking for customisations of the text? I did experiment with breaking the 'E' into three stacked lines, but worried this might confuse the meaning of the icon. Maybe something subtler, such as breaking the letter 'I'?
It's just after midnight here and I only jumped online to log off, so I'll work on revisions tomorrow morning.
To help a little with the font, are you able to say which, if any, of the style inspirations you selected are closest to what you're looking for? Or, are you interested in something different?

I have to step away for a couple of hours, but I'll upload revisions later this evening.

I like this. Let's make everything "thinner". The font is too plain as well.

It's simple, but recognisable; easy to apply to branding materials; easy to animate; and it tessellates to form a complex pattern of dots and dashes.
I welcome any feedback.
