I think the new design looks really great! I love how it looks with this colour - elegant yet bright.
The app icon is also much better with the letters in white!
And it seems that we have finally got to the end of this contest.
The long logo couldn't be better, so I think that will be the one which I will assign as winner.
Once set as winner could you please send it on both black and white background?
As for the app icon, one last request: would it be possible to have the letters a bit bigger so that the left bottom corner of the A and the right side of the H would line up with the corners of the hexagon? That would be the very last adjustment to make.
Thank you again for all your hard work! It has been a pleasure to work with you, I hope we didn't cross the line with all these corrections and adjustments.
I changed the orange gradient to one of the images you sent. Also changed the gradient of beam to grayscale on white backgrounds. Letters for the app logo where changed to white.
Thanks
Dear Sean,
Thanks again for the changes, I think they look really great (and you’re right, there’s no SAH any longer :) )! I think we’re getting really close to the end by now.
Three more questions:
- Could we try the same thing on the app icon, but with the original white letters in the background (possibly becoming darker behind the light beam - that of course is just a suggestion, I trust your creativity to make it look good)
- I think the long logo on the white background looks better with the grey light beam, as on design #316 (with all the new changes of course)
- The gradient looks really nice but still it seems to be a bit gloomy. What do you think about this kind of colours/gradients? https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b8/8c/87/b88c870d7f02408fefdff535e6603677.png
Dear Sean,
Thank you for your this one, yes, this is the one we were looking for.
Could we try a couple of adjustments in order to make it fit better with our website?
Our suggestions would be the following (these apply to both the app icon and the long logo):
- the hexagon would perhaps look better without the rim;
- the gradient you use on the word HIVE looks pretty cool, maybe we could try that in the hexagon too, instead of the lighting effect that it has now;
- maybe if the sides would go a bit more inwards, and the upper angle would be a bit sharper, we would get a more perspective (three dimensional) feeling.
About the app icon:
Although this design got a lot of support during the surveying, we still got a couple of "looks like it said SAH"-s.
Do you think putting letters S and H closer to each other would help? Perhaps if the part of the letters that fall behind the light beam would still be visible (like half lit for instance) the S and the H could go quite close to each other, eliminating the A effect of the light beam.
What do you think?
For any new version of the app icon, it should be only the beam and the two letters; we will use the long one (with the beam substituting the letter A) and the S-beam-H in different places, so there is no need to have the full name written under this one.
Also, in order to really see how the long logo would fit the design of the website, could you please submit it with a white background as well?
Thanks Sabastian,
I am so glad that you like the logos. Yes I can make adjustments. Sure I would send you the winning logo and an app design. I worked really hard on this to come up with a great design.
Thanks again
Sean
After a great deal of surveying, it seems your design is leading the contest and will be the chosen one.
A couple of adjustments and comments:
First of all, thank you for your new designs, but the original direction was the best, so we only need minor changes to that now.
The app icon should be the light with the letters S and H on the sides as you made it on the design which was deleted by the moderator.
We also like a lot the light coming diagonally, but we feel that the app icon should match the long logo, which would not include in this case the lightbeam.
We were also thinking about putting the diagonal beam in the long logo but it may not look good - just a comment on this idea would suffice. Only work on it if you think it's a good idea.
If I understand correctly the rules of the website (which I felt forced to read thoroughly after the Moderator's warning) once we have a final design, and you'd be selected winner, you would send it with both black and white backgrounds, but only one design; the website allows us to ask you to send further designs. Do you feel it acceptable that we select the long logo winner but you'd send the app icon as well as a separate design? Please let me know what you think.
Sebastián
It took me a while to understand what happened to designs #319-320 and what was that Moderator warning about, but I guess we made you brake the rules when we asked to see the app icon too. We still would like to survey them, could you submit here the icon-app versions you have made recently? The typo can be shown thorugh this one.
Could you please try some less general, more uptodate font?
Also - what about making the lightbeam+hexagon more accentuated on the icon app, perhaps hiding the two letters a tiny bit more?
We are ranking now to figure out our five favourite designs, but we consider this one together with no. 2. as no. 2 would be perfect as app icon, but probably this would go to the website. I put it lower only to "tidy up" a bit the ranked section :)
Together with the name it looks pretty cool, but alone it feels a bit too simple, I don't know though what could be done to make it cool and sophisticated yet minimalist enough to be a good app icon and go with the name too in its original place...

I think i did everything that you asked for. Let me know what you think. I changed the perspective on this and it looks good.
