Sean, I have looked at some of your other designs on your profile. Can you develop some ideas along the same concept as your IBIRD logo. Incorporating the paw into the design and possibly a more realistic shaped paw. Even try turning the paw upside down and making the big part of the pad more shaped like a heart (compassion). Try a little more abtract and maybe softer overall appearance.
