Here is my initial design idea for your new branding: #5. I also included a subtle nod to the helping the community in this version, with the "i" as a person: #6. Both would look great as strong, stand alone icons.
Let me know what you think, and we can go from there. Thanks!
Thank you for entering the contest, GoodGuy Design.
I love the "I" in SCIP! ...And I like the idea of a stand alone icon. SCIP is at front and center which we want to see. The badge brings in the "sheriff's" element, and I like the use of the colors, fading, etc.
Would it look too cluttered if we replaced the current content of the ribbon to read Sheriff's Community Impact Program?
Thanks for the fast feedback; much appreciated! I will work on some additional variations with that as an option, so you can see what you like best. More to come soon!
Here are a couple of more options: #9 is the same but with the revised text, and #10 shows it on a background similar to the color on your website where the logo would sit. #10 also shows it with a couple subtle sherrif stars added to frame the text.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on these. Thanks again!
Here is a version on black with a grunge layer over the top, so you can see how that would look as well: #11. I also started working on solid color versions, as you can't do gradients on silkscreened t-shirts: #12.
I will see what other color options I can come up with, so you can make sure this is the route you want to go!
..I was going to ask about how that would look on silkscreened products...Otherwise, another nice option. I like that distressed (or grunge) look as it is called.
And here is one possible flat-color (aka T-shirt ready) design option: #14.
I will finetune the solid color options for shirts and other merch soon. I am still not 100% satisfied with this particular one, but it is a great start.
In #13 I'm not too warm on the, what appears to me as, snow within the badge itself. On the letters, ribbon, I like the grunge look, just not on the black background.
For #14, the letter style changed... not that I don't like this style but I seem to really like the letter style from #13 and previous logo entries.
You guys continue to amaze me. I like #23's colors a bit better... Something about the lines I think... And I really like the fact that you are attempting create SCIP'S "own strong brand" while working to maintain some connective tissue between SCIP, the community, and law enforcement--Thank you. That is something that is very important to me.
Also, I withdrew some designs to make it a little easier for you to sort all of the new entries as they arrive—I anticipate more designers will throw their hat into the ring soon. If you happen to think of any you liked that are now gone, I can certainly reinstate them at anytime.
Sounds good! I will see what other variations I can come up with that I think you might like... Thanks for being so attentive and always online for feedback.
another thought... the ribbon on our badges are usually on top, just below the twin peaks of the badge. How would that look on #9 if we were to move up the ribbon?
Hey, great question. Personally, I think they are pretty similar visually to what youth would prefer. #26 might look a little cooler on shirts, especially if we added the distressed/grunge look. Also, I will get a revision done for #9 asap, so we can compare those two layouts.
On #29 I agree... something is not quite right and not sure what it is. Nonetheless, what I like is that the "I am the champion" person that serves as the "I" in SCIP is now holding up the banner, as if in support of the organization. ...Just my simple thinking out loud.
You have put in a great deal of time on all of these revisions and I am sure I am not the only logo design you are working on. I really appreciate your time.. Thank you.
Here is a revised entry, per your last request: #45
And then here is a completely new direction: #46. The nice thing with this one is there is more emphasis on "COMMUNITY IMPACT", which is obviously the most important part of the name. Also, I think it might be a little more likely to appeal to youth.
Another option would be to have your main logo just have the acronym on it: #53. This would work great for most things, including shirts, hats, signage, etc.
And then you could add supporting text whenever needed: #54, #55, etc. For websites, letterheads, biz cards, etc.
Hi... I like the simplicity of #54 but not too sure about it... I like the connectivity of #45, #26, etc. The concept you present, as far as adding in supporting text is good, too. I think at this point I am sold on your earlier entries as some are top contenders into the next phase.
Yeah, it might be the black making it pop. Here it is on black with the grunge layer turned off: #65. (I put it on its own layer, so you can use it or not use as you wish.)
When you say on its own layer and I can use it as I wish, how does that work? Sorry for this kind of a question. I am still not quite sure how this all works once we decide on the winning logo - Do I get one logo, variations of it... does that cost more to get various versions, etc. I hope I am not violating any rules by asking this.
The transparent look is good, too. It understates the badge somewhat which I don't mind... This aspect is what I like about your latest designs. I want the law enforcement element captured but not overpowering.
On #64 can you show me what it would look like without the black background?
Hey, no problem at all. Those are all great questions. Basically, if you took the file to a printer/designer, all they would have to do is open it in Illustrator and they could turn on/off the grunge layer as needed. I would also provide both grunge and non-grunge versions in multiple file formats, so that you yourself would have each variation of the design on-file. All conventional needs would be covered by each file type, which I can spell out in more detail later.
We are not allowed to provide two completely different designs via this site, but providing grunge/non-grunge versions of the winning design would be no problem at all. Also, providing it on white vs black backgrounds is not an issue either (since it is technically the same logo). So, all of those could definitely be prepped for you.
I will get that revision of #64 posted right now.
Let me know if you have any other questions, or if you need anything else clarified. I appreciate how involved you have been throughout the process—definitely one of the more attentive contest holders!
There are a couple of different options for this. You could either have the white grunge, which makes it feel like the background is coming through: #67. Or you could stick with the black grunge, which makes it feel like it is corroded but there is still black underneath: #68
Ok... those explanations make sense. Thank you. I was a little concerned that I would get a logo I could not open on my computer without certain types of programs.
I think I like the look of #68 better, with the black grunge.
