My submission for your review...I'd like to know your the reasoning behind using sword to emphasize a retirement planning investment group. The word represents aggressive, conquest, war.

A sword can be interpreted in several ways the 3 listed above but also protection, guarding defending.

Design #100 a stylized sword in the form of a lighthouse represents, protection, guarding, safe passage, a beacon

Scott, your comments are very insightful! And I like how you've gone outside of the box. In fact, we never even thought of a lighthouse concept, but you are right. We may want to explore this concept indeed. Thank you for submitting!

When I enter a contest I am I one man " focus Group "

1. what is the industry
2. the demographic
3. what imagery comes to mind with certain design elements in this case swords, shields etc and how they my be interpreted by potential clients
5. is the design approachable

I use this 5 step approach with each submission I upload, if I have doubts then asking questions helps resolve any confusion. If I upload a design and later decide I do not like it I will tell you and give reasons why.

Your house concept is holding as a top three contender. Interested to see some variations (doesn't have to include sword) before final voting begins.

Design updates with color option. The lighthouse is now shinning out to sea which is westward (Pacific)

Nice! We'll be sticking with the warm colors but we're liking the concept.

The "financial group" font feels like it doesn't complement the rest of the design. Can you tweak a bit before I present to the rest of the team?

We like #140 too but with the light house in burgundy.

#143 update Burgundy on gold, I've added a small wave toward the bottom to fill in that space, any this will apply to previous and future updates.

Looks good. Can you modify fonts on #143: Sentry Pacific is too tight together needs to be spread out more. And colored burgundy. .... or a mixture of Sentry (burgundy) and Pacific in Gold.

Financial group font doesn't complement design. Perhaps use also serif ... or a more classic sans serif font.

#152 type adjustment including increase spacing, I am using only one design to hone the text and will be applied to future or current designs

I've withdrawn anything that is not current or overlap it's best to keep the number of revision to a minimum as it's easier to view that scrolling through 20-30 designs

3 colour with Panone values, yes even with gradient applied....the lighter end of the gradient is simply a tint of the original color

Thank you very, very much for an fantastic concept. It truly has been my favorite. Unfortunately, the majority of the team decided that other competitors are using lighthouse concepts so they prefer to go with a typographic style instead. You are a very thoughtful and talented designer.

If you still want to submit something that competes with the top two design concepts, feel free.

As i said before, your design is my personal favorite and I have been trying to make a case for it with the larger team. After much going back and forth, it finally was eliminated. Again, thank you for providing such an excellent design.
