The sides of the face I think still looks slightly chipmunkish to me. I'm sure I'm overthinking but is there a way to make the cheeks less poofy?

Here are the revisions. I extracted the black color from your Dog image, it turns out it wasn't a pure black color. I use the hair finishing and put them in a round shape with a banner on it as your requirement.

Ah that dog is only in Black and white, but uses a different design style and details to have the feel to be like that. the light white hairs reduce the black color effect. I am working on it.

Hahaha.. No problem, How about this one entry #101 I am using 96% black.

I'm terrible at colors clearly lol. I want the dog darker than #85 but #98 is too dark. So essentially the dog can be a black color but not too black; kinda like a soft black. Not sure if that makes sense

Can you do a black pupil instead of the entire eye blue and make the blue not as neon/bright.

How about try the 90% black parts do 100% black. Then the current gray parts do the 90% black and leave the white highlights as is
