Here are my entries to your contest. I tried to make a anchor slightly different so that you would be able to trademark it. I tried several variations and a few font options. I also customized some of the letters to help create a brandable look.
For #321 I made the anchor the iris of an eye, which might help identify the industry. That configuration can be replaced with any of the other layouts.
I posted a message on the front page. I also contacted Ivan (the site administrator) to ask him to help. I am not sure if you realized that the anchor that you are currently using seems to be clipart. It has happened before that a CH had been previously sold a logo/artwork and unbeknownst to them it was clipart. This is a problem because a trademark containing clipart cannot be legally trademarked. That is why most sites offering clipart, will state in its TOS that the clipart is not for commercial use. Because it is free for all to use, no one can copyright it as there own.
I wanted to brings this up to you in case you did not know. I saw the sunglasses you have (nice by-the-way) and saw that this is a high-end product that needs to have a recognizable AND trademarked brand identity. With the use of clipart, it can hurt the image of the company to see the logo on other products (I already found it in use on different websites and even as free wallpaper for your computer and/or mobile device screen.) Also, you will have no legal recourse from another manufacture etching an anchor on the lens and selling a cheap product as a knock-off.
Anyway, this is all meant to help and I hope this does not throw a wrench into the gears.
For #341 I decide to try a shied/ crest around the anchor. I thought this can be used in it's entirety AND just the crest can be used also as trademark. And it's fully copyrightable :)
I realise the anchor is generic just like a square. We want to copyright the entire logo with the anchor inside, we don't intend to copyright the anchor on its own.
I see, but the the use of free clipart makes it so that it cannot be copyrighted as well as possibly being a license infraction from the original source. Keep in mind that the anchor is not generic, unlike a square, there are endless ways to draw an anchor.
I see that I have been eliminated, any suggestions or feedback?
I see that the contest has been extended. Should I continue to try out other ideas? I feel that I was nixed for bringing the anchor issue to your attention. I'm sorry that I may have offended you in any way as it was my intention to help, not hinder the contest. I have over 20 years in design and marketing and I thought I should mention the copyright/branding issue as I would have to any other potential client in the same situation.
