Hello and thank you for this opportunity to design for you...I have reviewed you original logo and rather than re-brand your company lets take that design to the next level I've incorporated a stone river bed without the city building ( to me buildings are over used in construction motifs)..so lets wok with the words River and Stone Basically we are not re-branding you company but but doing logo makeover..taking what you have which recognized as company mark and bringing up to date.
Thanks for the entry and for taking the time to explain your design. I agree with you, the city skyline theme is used far too often in construction logos, but our owners really wanted to try to incorporate them into the new design (if possible!). Your design is interesting but I don't think it's quite what we are looking for. Here's why...
1) The stones you've chosen are rounded field stones which we do use, but our specialty is more exotic flat stones such as flagstone, paving stone, slate among others to create some pretty amazing paths, walkways, patios etc. 2) Because it is early in the contest, I would like to try to encourage designs that try to hit all three themes as described in our "top 3 things we want to communicate" (from our profile).
I know it's going to be a challenge for the designers to come up with a fresh logo with a city skyline. I hope you'll take another crack at it, your a great designer!
I'm still open to new ideas, I just want to give our origonal idea a chance first!
Thank you for constructive feedback...well I can say this again I have out done myself yet again. If you are truly looking for something fresh, fun new and still maintain a a solid memorable design then this mock up is the right direction. The city scape is created from hand cut paver stone which represents landscaping the river represent the company name
Question: is there a river associated with "River City"
This is a huge leap forward in terms of what we are looking for. Thanks for taking the feedback and running with it. I'm not sure which color I prefer...I like them all! The B/W version will also come in handy as well.
To answer your question regarding the "river" aspect of our name. River City is an Edmonton based company (in Alberta). I see you are from Canada so you may have been to Edmonton before but if you haven't, a river almost completely divides the north and south sides of the City. This is the reason for the name. Is there any way you can think of to incorporate a river into the design? Maybe just try the blue version. Thanks
I will rank these designs shortly. I want to run them past our owners.
update the arc is is more defined river that comes out from between the buildings which represents the river dividing the city, also the cut stone pattern used to create the building structures is reflected into the landscape patter thus re-enforcing the companies primary business and the over all design.
Thank You so much for the comment. I don't mean to be a star stuck teen, but it Really means a lot to me to have received such a positive comment from you. Thanks for the confidence boost. David.
Let do something that no one else is doing...stones are great but if the company expands to incorporate other division then a more traditional mark maybe better suited. The knocked out "R" represents the winding river...the rectangular block represents the construction and designing...this mark maintains a solid representation of the existing business while appealing to a higher end market. and maintaining a long tern corporate identity.
