can we please see the clock in the upper-right corner, and the gear from #94 in the bottom-left corner, but bronze like the current color of the rest of the components? Thanks.
After talking my last comment over with my partner, he's not a big fan of the lock and chain, but he's on board with the skeleton keys or keys or whatever.
I like the top. I think we're in a good spot there. I'm not a fan of what we have below. Thanks for trying a few things without any direction. What about some old skeleton keys, or a lock and chain. I don't know. Maybe something along those lines?
We're happy with where this is heading. Can we try a couple things? Can the middle gear on the top have thicker spokes? Also, can we move the clock to where the gauge is, and possibly do something else steampunk-ish where the clock currently is down below?
Couple of items. We like the clock but not sure we need the numbers.
In regards to the large gear on the left. Maybe we can keep the size of the gear but all the spokes give it a look of a ferris wheel. Not that is necessarily a bad thing but wondering if we can do something a little different. One of suggestion would be for the inside of the gear to be a circular maze.
On the middle gear can we see what it would look like with thicker spokes?
Looks like the gauge colors is different than the gears & clock. Is that intentional?
This looks good. Can the top two gears please be closer together like they're working together. we don't want a third gear at the bottom. Perhaps since that's next to the word Escape Games, it should be an old analog steampunk looking clock.
A lot of people like this. I'm not a big fan, but it's polled well in our surveys, so it's worth keeping. I don't like it because it reminds me of an app icon. What do you think? Is there anything else we can do? One of the things that bothers me is the diagonal lines in the background. Could it be a maze or sand from an hour glass somehow?
Ok so here's the deal. I wanted to hold off on asking too much since this was still open per our previous conversation. I think appreciate how this is looking, but a few concerns to note:
1) it's looking really busy. I'd almost like to cut back on the stuff below. If we're going to keep anything at the bottom, I'd like to keep the gear in the middle, I suppose. Let's get rid of the levers below escape games, so that stands out by itself. The pipes to the left are still kinda meh. I'm not in love with them, and it may be too much. I'd still really like a way to incorporate the pipes to connect to either to the pipe stack you added above the W in Works, or to leave that alone and simply rework the pipes again. I'm not exactly sure what I want, but I'm not in love with them now. Maybe replace the pipes and put some old looking Edison lightbulb, or have the pipes have Edison bulb on it. I don't know.
2) some sort of difference in colors. The banners can remain that black and purple, but these components behind it need to be secondary; not compete for attention against the banners.
3) I'd really like a purple-ish translucent drop shadow on riddle works (rather than black) where the light source is coming from top right, not top left. No blur please, or very little (like 2px). I'd rather have it flat than blurred.
Aha I get it. It was re-opened from a request I sent out about 3 days earlier. To be honest, not really looking for any new designs, and none have come in. Yours is in the top, and is likely the one we're going to roll with, but do want to make sure we're iterate a few ideas. Thx :)
Yes, i will upload again later, but as the contest is back in open mode now, i dont want to rush and get my ideas taken by other designers, hope you understand :)
One more big thing. The banners need to pop out more from the steam punk paraphernalia. How can we do this? Perhaps a 30-40% opaque drop shadow (I imagine it flat, but you can try with a blur too)
Like the handle under the word escape, and the lever. Good job. It looks like a joystick. Can we make it look more like an old-fashioned wood or metal lever?
The piping, however, is a bit much. I guess my opinion is that it looks thin and like plumbing piping, not factory steam piping. Rather than it running at the bottom of the logo half way through, can we keep it contained to the bottom left corner and have it wrap, bend and twist? Not sure how to explain it, I will try to find a photo to depict it.
Also the second gear at the top can lose the bicycle chain. Please have this gear connect to the larger gear on the left.
cool, glad you like the updates, i am just working on the gauge a little, its looking a lot better, i will incorporate your ideas into that when i upload again shortly :)
also, rather than diagonal lines in the background, could it be some sort of maze or wires or pipes or something? perhaps make the background gray instead of a purple color. I just want to make sure it doesn't all look like one big heap of purple. i'd almost like for everything except for the banners (riddle works and escape games) to be a different color. I don't know, just a thought. :)
This is looking better and better. A couple thoughts:
What do you think about making the outer border of the gauge a little bit thinner (or maybe same thickness but closer to the thicker border of the gauge)? I like how it looks currently, but that extra white white space between the two lines makes its stand out a bit more than the gears.
Lastly, what do you think about fitting in a lever, or wires or something? I don't want to drastically change this because I like it, but would be interested to see if we can steampunk neo-victorian-ize it a bit for an iteration or two.
Ok interesting. Thx for updating so quickly. Hhmm can we make the clock or gauge on the right less boxy? I wonder if we do less clouds, and maybe a single puff of steam? Can escape games be moved up under riddle works banner? Keep it right-aligned like it is now. I realize it may overlap the banner; not sure if that looks good or bad.
Sorry i have not been that busy here the last day or so, other matters, but i am planning on uploading again for you, its just taking longer than i expected. But i will be uploading again soon :)
Don't be shy about adding more Steampunk-ish items other than gears. Gears works with the "Works" part of the name. Steampunk is futuristic elegant/victorian industrial. Brass rivets, pistons, gears, etc. (google steampunk images).
Can we do any other variations of this? This is still my favorite one you have posted. I really encourage you to go back and re-read our description of "steam punk"; we recently updated the description to help designers.
Good direction! Not sure I love the font though; reminds me of Frankenstein or like its a little cheesy. I didn't understand the smoke at first. I realized it was from "works" like a factory. I think it's a good direction, but we want to convey a little more high-scale or posh. I think you're headed in the right direction with the steampunk look. Thanks!

Adding in some bronze might give things a little contrast.
We have also added a clearer definition of "Steampunk" to the project description if it helps.
