Some suggestions.

Downstroke on the right hand side, reverse it to match the curve in the sample image?

Shorten the sword a little bit?

Shorten the wave a bit too so it is a little bit steeper?

Include a little bit of red?

This is a Japanese character, yes せ - it has a few meanings. It also can be adapted to reflect the lines of the boat.

The vertical stroke on the left is the boat's mast - the mast happens to look like a katana held vertically.

The curved vertical stroke on the right is the shape of the front of the boat, which is very distinctive.

The horizontal top line is the deck line of the boat.

The curved bottom line is just the shape of a wave.

But all together it looks like せ. If you can also make it look like an abstract ninja image, it will be good!

This looks good, maybe the figure could be even more abstract? Almost so it is hard to tell that it is a human at all.
