OK... so just one more try at seeing if we can get a better wave shape. I want to try to get a shape that, to a Japanese or Chinese person, looks more like the character 人. But is still recognisably a wave shape. See the sample I am uploading now.

What I like about the current wave shape is the curves at the bottom of each stroke. I also like the separation between the two strokes.

What I hope we can change is the top part of the wave. If it can look a bit more vertical, like the top of 人, that would be perfect.

The wave shape can then be highlighted by some "breaking spray" coming off the side of the top of the wave.

Legs as in #435 and character slightly smaller again. Then should be done.

Let's go back to the legs as they were in #435. Then the character probably moves a little bit lower/closer to the legs. And that should be finished. 😊

Getting close. 浪 should be a little smaller, and the left-hand stroke of the wave needs to be just a bit straighter/taller to look more like 人. And add shadow.

The character is the right size now. Legs/wave should the same as in the other design

Make the first character a tiny bit bigger - halfway in between this one and #439 - and I think we are there, for this design.

For this design, I am thinking a bit more like the sample image just uploaded in the brief. Firs character smaller and a bit higher up, and the wave a bit more like it was before (separated strokes, but with a bit of breaking spray in front of the peak of the wave - a bit like the classic Hokusai "Great Wave" painting).

Hi, do you like this solution? There's no space between legs, but they look more like a wave and also #438 for the side of the boat works good.

I really like this design and it is essentially the winner. I am just wondering if a few small adjustments can be made.

1. Make the red legs/wave shape look a little more like 人 - but without losing the fact that it is obviously the shape of a wave. I am not sure how easy that will be!

2. shorten the sword at the bottom end

3. increase the size of 浪.

What I would really like to do is to have two versions of this. One version will just be the 浪 and 人/wave shapes. That will go on the side of the boat. The other version will have the whole design, which will go on the back of crew shirts/jackets.

Delete the 人 and make the 浪 bigger

Add the character for "Ro" into the middle - between the sword and legs...

This design is really close! Could I please ask for these changes:

1. colour the two legs red, bring them closer together and shape them to look a bit like a wave, over the top of the vertical black curve.

2. change the shape of the black curve a little to make the top part of it straighter.

3. add a grey shadow behind the image (see the 2nd ranked design).

Can you reverse the blade so it curves away to the left? And make the front leg more like the curve of the bow of the boat in the sample image?

These images are really good. See the new images I have uploaded to the contest description - can you incorporate lines like those? They are from the design of the boat, so it would be nice to reflect them. :-)
