Hi! Here are a couple variations on my logo proposal. I created the border with stylized brewing / wine making elements: yeast, barley & hopcone with a small grape bunch. I'm a pretty avid homebrewer myself, so I've seen more than a few supply shop logos. I tried to bridge the gap between vintage-inspired (which Northern Brewer sort of has a lock on currently and AHB seems to be trying to "borrow" from) and modern so that it'd appeal to a wider variety of brewers. The elements can break apart - which I thought might be helpful on your website to possible use within icons in the different sections? (just a thought) Thanks for your time & consideration. RDWHAHB :)
Spot on man. I can see exactly what your going for. Overall I like the concept. Is there anyway to make the design more masculine? What are your opinions? Good to know that there is a fellow home brewer in the contest. I look forward to your response. Thanks.
No problem man. I know that you will have some awesome designs. I don't have anything in the fermentor right now. I haven't brewed a lot lately. I am active duty military and I am trying to get this business off the ground. Hopefully I can start up again soon.
I like your new concepts. Do you think that you can do a bootlegging style themed design? I am not an artistic visionary on this stuff so I'll try to explain what I am thinking. I am in-versioning the law abiding citizen who desires the allure of the "lawless" home brewing lifestyle(although home brewing beer is legal in all 50 states). One who has a sense of independence, pride, and craftsmanship that desires something handcrafted and unique. An individual who understands that homemade quality and variety is unsurpassed and as unique as they are. Brewing is a challenge as much as it is a pastime. Someone who is proud to share their accomplishments with their family and friends. Let me know what you think. Thanks man.
Hey Wylie - Just at thought - I think Brewmaster's Warehouse is probably the big competition in the GA area, isn't it? I actually did a couple of ads for them a while back...I have a home/nano/micorbrewing specific design business (if you're on homebrewtalk you might have seen me around - brewbrandcreative.com ) Won't a large portion of your business be returning / existing brewers? From what I've seen, it seems like most brewers are more into the craft involved as well as the DIY-aspect involved (not just with putting together your own beer, but also customized equipment, etc. I spent weeks putting together the pieces for my igloo cooler-turned-mash tun).
I'll try and work on some ideas in that bootleg-them, though. (Not trying to tell you how to run your business :) )
Thanks for the feedback. I can see that you are as passionate about home brewing as I am. I know that home brewers aren't "bootleggers" and it is very much about the repeat business and DIY. Although, many advanced home brewers don't spend a ton of money at home brew stores. They watch Youtube, read online forums, and hit up Home Depot and the like. Mostly they purchase ingredients and even that is in bulk(lower margins for brew shops). Most home brew store that I have seen are basically the same. Small store front in a strip mall. A sign out front with some grapes and hops. Inside the basic inventory of ingredients and equipment. I was just looking for something a little out of the box. Something that catches the eye, makes people take a second look, and sets a theme. I do not make a correlation between the idea that I am kicking around and poor business savvy so no offense taken. Brewing in this country has a rich tradition and following probation it wasn't until 1978 that home brewing was made legal again (the last state didn't legalize until 2013). Thankfully craftsman broke the law to keep the tradition, craft, and lifestyle alive. Just thought that I would play around with that idea a little. I kind of want to be different than home brewers warehouse. Anyway, it was just an idea. I don't want to attract too many Popcorn Suttons. Feel free to submit a design of any type. Thanks.
sorry - yeah, I'm a big HB missionary and get carried away sometimes (a lot of times!)
hearing that explanation makes for an interesting angle for sure. I just wanted to make sure that the bootlegging approach wasn't barking up the wrong tree and attracting home distillery guys (I know a few guys that do that, too - though they claim the stills are for "essential oils" haha) I think if you present it that way - almost an "underdog" approach, it could be great!
The funny thing about Alabama not legalizing homebrewing until last year is that one of the guys that got me INTO homebrewing lived in Mobile - haha
You bring up some really good points. I suppose that I general thought that I knew what I wanted but you guys are so talented on here. You all have really got me rethinking my branding. I have spent some time really studying my final design choices. It was great to see such a variety of designs and you're a very talented artist. I want to run something by you. The style of lettering for "Creek" in #24, #25 looks a little like "Greek" at least to friends that I have asked. I really like the design but do you think that we can make the C look a little more like a C. I really appreciate all of the hard work on this. You're a good dude man. Thanks again.
One last request. I know that we are in the final hours of design revisions. Any way to add a home brewing supplies phase to #102 like you have on your other submissions? Thanks again man.
Sorry man. I know that I said last one. What if we used some earth tones with #102? Maybe green(hops), wood stained look/brown(wood backdrop), light brown/gold(wheat), hickory look for the mash paddle? Just some thoughts. Let your imagination run free. I don't want to limit you because you have been spot on with your designs and philosophy so far. I look forward to your submission. Thanks for everything brother!

Hey Wylie - sorry - I meant to have another couple versions up, but I had a "fire" to put out yesterday afternoon with a design client. I added a spoon to the mash paddle on #121 to reinforce small / homebrewing brewing. I *think* I fixed the "C" on #119.
#122 Looks awesome Josh. Anyway to add a homebrew supply phrase? I know there is a lot going on with the design already. I really like the addition of phrases on your other designs. Thanks man.
I added a few more embellishments (the curl of the hopbine, the barley leaves and some minor embellishments around the phrase) to give it a more ornate look. Thanks Wylie!
I really appreciate all of your hard work on this project. I have taken the last week to thoughtfully evaluate all logo submissions, particularly the top 5 entries. I have consulted friends, family, and colleagues and taken their opinions into consideration. I will select a winning design in the next few hours. If you are not selected would it be possible to purchase one or more of your designs? Again thank you for all of the hard work, passion, and thought that you put into this contest. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again.
Regarding logos for sale - absolutely! Once the contest is complete, we can discuss. Also, let me know what you get a website / store set up .I'd be happy to pass out your site to the homebrewers I work with!
