Hi, here are my initial entries for your consideration. I reused the crown as an image, but created a simpler shape for it. I also used all lower case letters in a soft font. You mentioned Wal-Mart as a similar brand, and I know they recently redid their logo to be less authoritative and more family friendly using similar characteristics. Thanks a lot!
