not sure what you saw as sport... but here is a more sleek simple font and making the "flag"a sun? specific feedback helps

So we like overall shape but something off about font and lines. Can font be more minimal and modern? And it's missing something fun or quirky.

1975 very significant year if you can work that in.

If you google "Vietnamese boat 1975" you can see images of the boats.

Can you make the circle one full Vietnamse flag, because I think the rest of logo incorporates American flag? Can container color around Phamily be boat shape?

There are all types of boats... not sure how to do that ... but will think about it. maybe you can reference images of the type boat they came in? There was a segment on NPR today about a Vietnamese success story.. it was interesting.

Also, Pham is our last name if you want emphasize that part of Phamily. Just an idea.

I'm thinking what if you put "Phamily" inside a very simple boat because the first four families came over on a boat.

I'm not sure about font but I'm not feeling the fanciness of the first letter P.

Can you take off "living American Dream" and put four stars there instead symbolizing first four families? And try other fonts for Phamily? I really really like how you did flags so keep that.
