Hi! Here is my initial entry for your consideration. I looked at the logos you referenced, and what stands out to me is how stylized and -- for the most part -- simple they are. I love the Ritual Roasters logo -- I immediately saw how it mimics the sickle and star from the Soviet flag, but I have yet to understand the reference. I thought about what you said about your business being a temple for coffee (I know I worship at the altar of the bean!). In trying to capture that without my design seeming overly religious in nature, I've drawn a stylized Mayan temple, which is fitting, because I read that the Maya were growing coffee long ago. (I also know they invented freeze drying!) I'd love your feedback, which will help me tweak and hopefully perfect this for you! Thanks.

Hi Lindsey,
Thanks for submitting your designs.
I like the direction. But I gotta tell you, I'm not enamored of Mayan architecture (something reminds me too much of the big temple at Epcot in Walt Disney World, which, unfortunately, was my first exposure to the form of architecture).
And it's also a little literal, I think. I also _hate_ turquiose...sorry!
Having said that, I do like the circle with the image in the middle (a little abstract coffee cup-ish) and I like the two colors of the fonts in #5.
And I like the font of the "coffee". The "Patika" is a little mayan/aztec-y looking (not sure exactly what font they used :) ), which goes back to the temple/Epcot thing.
Thanks again for submitting the designs!

Hi Lindsey,
I thought about it, and I think I'm also a little anti-maya theme because there's another coffee place in Austin, Ruta Maya (rutamaya.net/), which is a bit of the hippie hangout (they have belly dancing every 4th Friday!), and their coffee's okay, but not what I'm going for. I think it would be a bit confusing in Austin to have the theming in that way.
Thanks!
